You never get the girls trying to get an eyeful...

'cept Nodame laugh Although I guess that's why I like her so much...

Can you really blame her? (We need more people like her XD)

I think like some other people said I would like romance in my shounen (or some) not forefront not discussed in length I just want things resolved or at least slightly resolved.

Continuous fighting, don't get me wrong I love fights but 5 fights in a row (that stretch out for weeks)... I'd like some plot a little at least.

Also, what is with the stalkers in shounen manga? =_= Even really geeky guys have stalkers and their usually sweet/shy/cute...

One thing that annoys me is when somewhat important character "dies" and he/she get revived in any lame way.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
ie. Gaara in Naruto, many characters in Bleach, Asuna in Negima (anime only)

another thing that annoys me is when the main male character goes through an extensive training... but doesn't look strong(still wimpy looking) but when there's a fight, all of a sudden he has these muscles and his body is not wimpy anymore! wtf?!?... where'd those come from?! then when the fight is over, he body gradually shrinks back to the wimpy form again... who has a body like that? really now... sheesh! irritating!

In fighting manga If a main character learns a new movement, there is a perfect opportunuty to use it in next fight. Besides, a main character never repeats movements no matter how effective and efficient they are.

Ok, about the romance thing in shounen, I am a crazy fan girl. Sorry. Even though it would be sort of annoying to have it be a frontal thing, I would appreciate it in Bleach if they just tell us what Ichigo is thinking about Orihime, and this may be an odd thing to say (blame my curiosity, not my logic) but does Ulquiorra have some hidden respect for Orihime? Even though he probably doesnt....just curious. And then the other shounens, like 666 satan. I may be the only one to notice this, but Ruby blushes while talking about Jio....I dunno. Maybe I'm just too imaginative.

About the training....I think training is super bad-ass. They become all powerful and stuff. But the bad guy is always stronger, and the hero needs to find a meaning to fight if he's weaker...you know? And DUH!!! the hermit is going to be a total bad ass who can defeat the boss easy, but who the hell else is he suppossed to learn from?

A complaint about alot of main characters though. It's not cool to be a wimp...at all. I mean, itd be sort of cool to have like a lazy-i-dont-care character whos dragged into a big fight. But no frigging wusses, please. No one looks up to babies. And 15 yr old heroes...it just makes me think about how much they will grow in their lives at such a young age. Maybe its also because when you are that age, you are alot more emotional and stuff. Plus, oddly, I think a young kid wearing tons of heavy armor and chopping down baddies sounds cool!

No matter the place, time period or culture, the characters are all able to communicate with another without much trouble.

Another one: No matter how weak the hero is, suddenly he'll become a lot more powerful.

Also, the enemy interestingly is extremely powerful but they often don't do anything to counter the heroes' abilities and skills. Instead, they'll assume that they're the most powerful forces in the world and not do anything to beef up their position.

Japan always gets smashed up a lot. And no matter how much damage has been incurred, daily life will still go on. You'd think the people would learn not to walk about freely in the streets, after various monsters have gone on rampage?

Also, even if the force of the attack has shattered the surrounding buildings and even caused a minor earthquake, the characters will somehow escape with just a scratch or a few minor injuries. biggrin

Finally, if there's a pretty long-haired boy, he must usually belong to the enemy. No doubt about it! laugh

Hero must get his ass kicked before using his strongest attack, Unless he is using that attack for the first time in this fight (also applies to enemies at times)

One piece is especially guilty of this, Watching Luffy//Zoro//Sanji fight for several chapters and either get nowhere or get their asses kicked, before pulling out gears//jamble//asura Can get really annoying

Hero's Love interest gets kidnapped and Hero faces impossible odds to rescue her

Every arc in bleach

Pissing off a hero will make him 100x stronger especially if its by hurting his friend~

Every shounen anime// manga basically

Also this is more common in anime but every time a Ally/friend etc on the good guys side gets attacked, everyone nearby yells his name, and usually does nothing else.

How about bad guys spend so much time gloating because they clearly have the upper hand they could have already wasted and beheaded/removed the heart of/cut in half/etc. the good guy, but for some reason they just never seem to bother, thus paving the way for the good guy to make a comeback.]

Oh and nobody significant EVER gets shot in the head, unless they cant be killed that way.

Guy agonizes over two girls who ask him out on a date on the same day so he winds up taking them both out at the same time.

Long battles where most of the battle arc is opponents staring at each other or talking with no relevance to the plot and not actually battling.

I've never ever seen this before. Actually, I've never seen a harem shounen before. Wait, does Love Hina count? But to me, that's one of a kind.

Obnoxious and annoying villains, who often seem like they are going out of there way to ignore reality.

Injuries that are supposed to bleed that don't.

Isnt shounen anything that is intended to appeal primarily to a younger male audience? I think that would sort of classify most harem manga as shounen.
