well, they both seem to originate from a fear of rabies, and i remember reading somewhere about vampire bats being very proficient at spreading rabies amongst livestock (sheep i think, can't remember) in south america, better than wolves at least, so i guess vampires? then again humans have come up with vaccines for rabies...
i don't know, that probably didn't make any sense...

yep, Rabies seems to be the drive to Vampires (they act crazy and look like ill people), but it falls short to be the cause of Werewolf legends... Rabies makes you do CRAZY stuff, but doesn't transform you into a 9 feet tall beast.

You could say The Berserkers where the guys behind the Werewolf legend, but actually the legend of werewolves was first and Berserkers exploited this to cause fear in their enemies.

Nothing scares your enemies more than the possibility of facing an army of 9 feet, muscular beasts.

Granted ^_^

I would have to say vampires are stronger. For one, don't werewolves have to be under a full moon to gain full strength? Depending on the legend, the "day-walker" vampire should be unstoppable at all times.

Also, who ever said that werewolves were 9 feet tall? I have never heard that one.

i think its stupid that you so completly block out litereature as "crap"
why you ask?
because in a 100 or so years todays litereature will become that eras "legends" and no doubt there will be more people like you saying "we will completly ignore literature because its full of crap. but if we look at some of the old folklore (take the legend of twilight for instance), its obvious that vampires hate going into sunlight because it makes them sparkle"
(im sorry if that counted as flaming, im happy to revise it of you think that it is)
Ok that little rant aside... going off your info werewolves would obviously own, but ever since i watched Hellsing, ive just gotta love vampires. (Alucard FTW)

like a 7' tall basketball player with a 1' tall afro turns into a werewolf, that hair growth will give him another 1-2' easy

Huh? That is not flaming, that is an opinion

And to change:

Vampires get weakened under sunlight (to the point of being weaker than humans)

to

Vampires sparkle under the sunlight...

well I don't know you, but I consider this type of changes as CRAP

Like I said

around the world there are 2 things that always repeat in all Werewolf legends, being a Werewolf can be a CURSE and a CHOICE, The Curse of being a werewolf can't be controlled easily and is tied to your blood line, the curse will never end as long as your blood line exist, with full moon is impossible to control the curse and the wild instincts that come with it, but any other day of the week can be controlled or limited (never suppressed)

The point of this curse? to make yourself kill your own family and wake up the next day to the nightmare.

However those that choose to be werewolves had complete and absolute control of what they did.

all the legends say front 7 feet to 9 feet, never shorter and sometimes bigger

PS: I am taking you are talking about this Daywalkers

Quote
In the context of vampire fiction, a daywalker is a vampire which, for various reasons, is immune to the effects of sunlight and is able to operate during the day. The term was coined in the Blade comics published by Marvel and was popularized by the Blade films based upon them.[1] Daywalker is also used as a derogatory slang term.

-_- and you say why I banned literature?

Besides a Daywalker is just a vampire that is not weakened by sun light, but can be killed by all the other methods (FIRE) (WOOD) (YEOLD BEHEADING)

Brams Stoker changed "Weakened" to "Killed"

dead

The Sunlight shone brightly and the vampire was "weakened"

Brams: That doesn't sound good, I don't care if that is how the legend goes, is my damn book and I will do whatever I want

and as thus that sentence became

The Sunlight shone brightly and the vampire was "killed"

dont get me wrong i think that type of change is crap as well. i just picked it out as a bit of an extreme example...
the point was that when it comes down to it the folklore and legends that you a basing all your infomation on is was just superstition and stories made up a long time ago...
so what makes them any differant from the superstition and stories made up in more modern times...
Whats wrong with a vampire who gains a life for every life he takes, makes new vampires from virgins, has familiars and can change his shape. in short why dont all you vampire haters accept that Alucard got pwn every last one of your precious werewolves (lol)

the only problem i found in your vampire mythology is that you said vampires are pale. dude, that was all bram stoker.

the original vampires in mythology were bloated, and black with lots of built up blood, like a rotting corpse. not pale.

in most folklore legend ive heard the werewolf is clearly stonger then the vampire
and since the (i belive) vampire legends you seem to have read or heard look like they come from a bunch of crazy peoplewho thaught they could become immortal from drinking blood and ended up dying a few weeks later from malnourishment.

i still belive a vampire can take down a wolfman (if its not the intelligent type) pretty easilly in direct conffrontation.

so i chose both with a preference for vampires because of Alucard( the hellsing one) because he can deffinetly beat the shit out of any werewolf
laugh
