I'm in one, and I have fun...although sometimes I work too hard as people like to tell me, but it's fun ordering people around wink One of the perks to being a founder, although the lack of staff almost made me rip out my hair at one point.

Quite a while ago I did some proofreading/QC for a couple of groups, but they both kind of...withered away to zero activity. no

Someday I'd like to do it again, but I don't have the time/energy to do it now.

Yes, I currently proofread for three groups. I like it; I get to proofread a lot of stuff, which is lots of fun for me. It's very nice, because I can correct people as much as I want and be as anal as I please, and people appreciate it instead of getting annoyed at my superior diction and linguistic prowess. laugh
Once I have become fluent in Japanese (it may be a long while from now, judging by the current rate of progress) I may become a translator as well.

I did it for roughly three weeks before calling it quits. It wasn't for me, translating animated series lasted a bit longer, currently doing a live action, will see how long that lasts. smile

I used to proofread, but didn't have time once uni started. Just so the community knows, the 50% that would like to help out are probably people that don't have the skills to (no Photoshop, can't translate, doesn't pass a scanlator's test, etc.)

Yes, and I love it.

I typeset, clean, and proofread for 4 groups right now. It's a lot of fun for me, but sometime, I edit when I should be doing homework. Like right now... smile

that's really very true. i'd love to help, but have no idea how to translate. i'm alright with speaking multiligually, but have next to no skill when it comes to reading and writing between languages. is there any solution? like... besides taking classes, which i probably can't find in my area, anyways? it's such a pity that we can't use everyone's strengths just because of these problems.

laugh Very true.

It's hard being part of a group when you're in uni. Props to whoever is and is still sane. xD

And with summer coming up...yeah I'm pretty much dropping all of them even my own (well I can't do that xD). Besides, school work, practice, work, and maintaining a site...doesn't leave much time to read manga let alone help clean/edit/translate...etc.

Good luck everyone~ biggrin

I love and hate it at the same time, it takes up so much damn time and type setting is a f'n pain, especially when it's a manga you don't much care for. But I do it to make up for being a leecher for so long.

second option.

I scanlate, and I hate it.

It's like a crack I can't let go.

;____;

Scanning: Pain in the ass, time consuming, costs a fuckload of money, BORING
Translating: Don't do
Editing: I do enjoy cleaning from time to time, but most of the time I'm a lazy bitch. I hate typesetting, it's annoying, annoying, annoying, and BORING AS HELL. I hate it.
Proofreading: Eh, I do it, but I hate it. -_- I'd rather just proofread while I QC.
QCing: My fav position, because it's basically "what an editor does when they're too lazy to edit a full chapter". I'm a lazy bitch so I only QC good editors' work cause to hell with shitty editing qcing. If someone doesn't take care of major shit like dust, then eff that, I'm not gonna do it for them. Either they do it, or forget it, I won't either.
