I searched and Doc's motivation thread isn't quite the same, so here I'm! laugh

So, what is your general motivation when you do stuff?

In my case, most of the time it's the sense of duty, often obstaculized by my lazyness laugh, so it's between that and "I'm not sure why".

Self-discipline, I guess.

I mean, there are plenty of things I procrastinate, but I rarely break promises that I make to myself.

You missed adding the "What motivation?" option.

I'm only truly motivated if I'm hellbent (eyes gleaming, no sleeping or eating, Satan on a leash nearby guarding for intruders) on doing something, which is like falling from one extreme to the other. ._.

And tsu, I see you're also quite motivated to reach 100 threads/week. XD

When I do something it's either for fun, because I'm not satisfied with the result of when someone else did it, or if they would have done it instead. Or just to get the whiners to stop whining. Of course, I also don't do things they whine about just because it would have resulted in more whining.

Don't have much motivation to help out with the house, cause no matter what I do the whining won't change for the better, if I do help they just demand more.

I chose "other", because it really depends on the thing in question.. if its studying, its because i understand i have to do it and its important for my future success (hopefully bigrazz )..

but i'm very lazy and it's hard to get me motivated to do smth extra.. which is why i'm usually late when handing in papers like essays, reports or some course works and presentations..

or for that matter to clean, wash the dishes or iron, as ive been living alone for a couple years, noone is doing it for me anymore cry but sometimes i just have this urge to clean even if i did it a couple of days ago..
just in case, i don't sit in a dirty old t-shirt in a garbage filled room picking my nose and playing with insects biggrin

But if it's smth i enjoy then i will do it swiftly, its just hard to get me motivated to do smth..

In the end, it all really depends on the mood...

I don't do things I'm not fond of unless forced to.

When I say I'm going to do something, I do it and I do it well, but when I don't make a promise to myself or others but still have to do it, I will because I don't want to disappoint anyone and I can't handle the stress. So even if I really, really don't want to do something, my motivation is that I want to do what is expected of me or better and I feel like crap if I don't get the job done.

You could say my motivation is because I "want" to do things, but not really. I just enjoy how I feel after I do something, even if I don't like getting there. To put it simply, if I sat down with my drink and popcorn on the couch to watch a movie, got all comfortable, and then realized the romote is all. the. way. over. there, my motivation would be if I don't get it, I don't get to watch the movie, but if I do, I can ^^ A mix of "I have to" and "If I don't I won't get what I want."

...or is that all confusing dead

Usually, I do things because I enjoy them or because other's will appreciate it. But sometimes, I do something just because I need to release all the built up stress.

I'll do it if I feel like it.
I'll also do it if nobody else
has done it.

I do it because I have to.

I'm a lazy ass, and the only thing that makes me get up and work is so I can get the goddamn problem off my back.

This is why I leave things like revision for the last minuite. I'm a crammer. I can't be bothered to start early (not motivated laugh ) and I'll only start when my conscious starts nagging me that my exam is next week....none
