YEOO guys I'm looking for a book/novel/manga or maybe even a movie that revolves around a medieval romance genre. I'm looking for one with a really good story and well developed characters. A book that I've read called the Seer and the Sword is really similar to what I'm looking for. If anyone would be able to help me out that'd be GREAT!

The Mists of Avalon is a book about King Arthur. It's really, really good! Told in the point of view of Morgan.

There is this one really good Scottish book that I read that was set in the Medieval ages. I don't remember what it's called.

How about The Sea of Trolls by Nancy Farmer? It's pretty good, but doesn't have very much romance.

Okay, so I don't have very many haha. there's always those really cheesy women romance novels like The Virile Viking or whatever.

There's another book about Tam Lin that was for younger readers, but it was really good. Try using wikipedia and searching for Tam Lin. There are only a few books about him, the rest are poems.

I would say The Outlaws of Sherwood, but it's not very medieval.. It's still pretty good smile

If I think of anymore, I'll update!

I like the Deverry Cycle by Katharine Kerr, 14 Books so far and starts with Daggerspell, Plot is about Reincarnations and sort of karma, which starts out with a love affair. It is of the Fantasy genre though.

Elizabeth Chadwick - Lords Of The White Castle (12th and 13th century)
Philippa Gregory - The Other Boleyn Girl/Harper Collins (Tudor)

There's a racy but cute cross-dressing medieval romance by Pamela Kaufman called "Shield of the Three Lions," followed by sequels. I read it when I was a teen and found it quite, um, hot, even though I was kind of disturbed by the fact that the girl in the book is disguised as a pre-pubescent boy and that Richard III falls for the child, I mean seriously, er. Nothing wrong with falling for the "boy," but at least wait 'til he's of age! (Still, a good read, and nothing actually "happens" while she's a child or disguised as a child. I think. Hey, it was years ago that I read this...)

"Scraping Through Stone" by Judith Fox is also about a cross-dressing girl winning the favor of Richard III. What do people think of Richard III, anyway? o_0; Haven't read this one, but I've heard that it's more literary and deep than Kaufman's "naughty" romance. biggrin

There's also Sharon Kay Penman, who writes a lot of stuff that you'd like - romantic mysteries with Welsh princes and, later, with the Plantagenets. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharon_Kay_Penman

Then there's Dorothy Dunnett, who does a lot of medieval romance and does it very well:

Enjoy!
