Any [good] show that you thought at any point, "Oh my God, that was EPIC!!!" Not very specific, i know, but I'm not looking for a very specific type of show. I've been without really good anime series for months, excluding a couple of currently airing shows (umineko and fma).

Less than 52 episodes please, i.e. no shounen fighting manga!

edit: Seen Geass and Gundam 00, both awesome, though 00 not as much. Hmm... mebbe i should say some (epic) series that i've seen...people should watch all these series! BTW, yes, my idea of epic can be weird.

Fullmetal Alchemist
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Baccano!
Eureka 7
Full Metal Panic!
Higashi no Eden
NGE
RahXephon
Now and Then, Here and There
Princess Mononoke
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (Season 1 only...)
Xam'd Lost Memories

a few of these series peter out towards the end, but they're still worth watching.

Gundam 00
I don't know if that classifies as Shounen but they do fight just not like fist fights though. It's similar to the fighting in Code geass in the sense they use robots.
Anyway regardless of the fighting, the series is epic in my opinion. Give it a try. biggrin
You'll cry, you'll scream at you computer, you'll scream at certain characters. The show is that intense sometimes if you're really into it xD

Death Note, if under 52 episodes.

But Gintama definately plays the role of epic much better even though it's like 171 episodes..

My fav

Adventure
Scrapped Princess, Chrno Crusade, Kenshin OAV (Memory from the past), Neon Genesis Evangelion, Martial Successor Nadesico, Mugen no Ryvius, Sekai Trilogy (the first far above all), Shingetsutan Tsukihime, Slayers (Next particularly), Boogiepop Phantom, Noein.

Romance
Ginban Kaleidoscope, Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora.

Almost everything by Miyazaki and Makoto.

Edit: I like all the anime you listed who I watched, so I think our taste could be similar.

Macross Frontier (Though the ending sucked.)
Kurenai (Heard the manga was even better. Usually is)
Gundam MS IGLOO 2 (Seriously messed up. Full of irony and tragedy.)

Spice and Wolf (A bit confusing at times. Something was probably lost in the translation. That and my sense for business sucks.)

I really have no idea what 'OMG that's so EPIC' means when someone shout it.You mean 'Epic' as in huge battles and stuff? Or 'Epic' as in heroic battles/styles? Or it's one massively long arc (like 52eps worth of a single adventure)... or do you just mean 'good' overall?

I see that you have a ton of Mecha-action, why not try the Gundam series? I particularly like Gundam Seeds (not so much for Destiny though) - it has a very good set of sound tracks.

Mai-Hime and Mai Otome are also good. It's action/mecha. I like Mai-Hime more since it's a lot more emotional near the end if you don't mind the yuri stuff. I mainly like this anime cause of the cool music.

Zegapain is also pretty good if you like NGE-style story. I love it close to the middle part when the main character finally realized the truth...

For non-mecha stuff, I strongly recommend Seirei no Moribito - awesome combat animation and nice music. I have watched a lot of action anime and this is the ONLY anime with the main character using spear so beautiful that I almost jumped out of my seat.

Zipang is also good action/historical/sci-fi. 1 Ship vs 40 planes battle was my favorite.

If you feel a bit young, try Uninhabited Planet Survive - not truely awesome but an overall good adventure anime; Capeta and Initial D - if you like racing/sport/shounen.

Kaze no Stigma (i thought it was epic)
One Outs (didnt even realize i finished the series when i got to the last episode, yep i was hooked with every episode)
Samurai Champloo (Historical Epicness)
Fullmetal Panic (Comedy Epic)
Tokyo Underground (Underrated Epic)
Getbackers (Classic Epic)

Trigun - This is the first anime I ever watched, so I might be biased, but I think it's really good.

Utawarerumono - Who isn't interested in a masked man with amnesia?

Fate/Stay Night - Episode 14 was EPIC. The rest not so much, but still pretty good.

I second:

Tsukihime - Based on another Type-Moon game. Wish it could have been longer than 12 episodes. However, if you've played the game then this could be a letdown.

Sekai Trilogy - I'm assuming this is Crest of the Stars.

EDIT:
Cowbow Bepop - classic
Escaflowne - classic
Excel Saga - for the insanity
Full Moon o Sagashite - my first showbiz type anime/manga
Furi Kuri - insane
Genshiken - slice of (otaku) life
GTO - hilarious
Haibane Renmei - don't remember why, but I liked it
Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni - suspense, mystery
Hikaru no Go - how can a board game be so interestingconfused
Hoshi no Koe - really impressive consider it's a 1 man project
Juuni Kokuki - the story's incomplete but still a good series
Kaleido Star - good showbiz type of anime
Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou - good shoujo
Rozen Maiden - the dolls are alive!
Rurouni Kenshin OVA - classic
School Rumble - hilarious

I don't get to watch many anime. But, if you want whats epic for me, I'll say VanDread anime (very different from its manga).
Its the only anime that ever made me jump from my seat, charging ahead in life.
Don't know about you though, its pretty epic and awesome for me.
OK, peace out, man.

That's a great series, but it's 110 eps long, definitely more than what the topic asked for.
