http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-08-19/kaze-no-st igma-novelist-takahiro-yamato-passes-away

Anyone thinks there is the slightest chance for this story to conclude someday ? (by i dunno, a relative, friend, co-worker...), or should be safe to asume this will be an unfinished story?

That's so shocking. Condolences to friends and family. I love the Kaze no Stigma novels and it is such a shame to loose a great author. One part of me hopes for the story to be properly brought to it's intended conclusion in some way but i9t'd be better that Kaze no Stigma remains unfinished than have anyone to taint Takahiro Yamato's creation. May he rest in peace.

I hope he may rest in peace. I really like the Kaze no Stigma novels and it was put on hiatus because the author had to be treated in the hospital but then he got better and was released from the hospital and I was hoping that he would finally get around, to completing the novel. So this news is a shocker and I offer condolences to his family and the ones close to his heart. Now we will never know if Ayano and Kazuma are together forever at the end or not cry

How is that at all the wrong reason? Takahiro Yamato is identifiable by his work, when he dies so does what he created. I bet you any money when da Vinci died that people were sad no more of his great art would be created anymore.

R.I.P. to you, and my condolences to your family. I will miss your novels, they were great.

Too bad the novel will be left unfinished and anime. (I am in the process of starting watching the anime, watched 1 episode so far looks average like Shana, but still averagely good enough to watch.)
