Wow, I just thought it was odd that there was no discussion on such a great manga.

The ending I thought was pure awesome. Unlike most manga where the ending leaves so many questions, this one answers almost all of them.

Hellsing is one of the best stories I have ever read.

Two thumbs up

i have a couple of problems with Hellsing...but i think its one of the best manga ever

problem
1.Anderson dies[a little too easy]
2.werewolf [Jotaro lookalike] was rather crap and died too easy
3.The Crusaders ...they looked so badass but did not do anything...they just died
4.why was seras her normal self after becoming a vampire...everyone else became monsters
[if alucard can make them like that why does Hellsing not agree when alucard offers...same with walter]
5.walters whole thing... he could have faced the werewolf and died there instead of making him a traitor[would have been better]
6.if all the major wanted to do was lure alucard to drink from Schrödinger...why not send him/her out to battle Alucard...he ate everyone else they sent at them

and also
what was up with the major
why was he a robot? did the doctor build him?
was he ever a real human?why does he want to beat Alucard?

but it is one of my favourite manga ever

Well, the story itself was mostly amazing, although I must admit I was reading it largely due to Alucard (very fan-girl-ish, but true). And then, there was the ending. It was half-assed, to be honest. Everyone dies, and for what? Nothing at all. Depressing actually. But whatever. I'd read up 'till the last few chapters again, beyond that it's worthless.

i'll answer some of your questions and show you why this manga has fewer problems than you listed. the major was once human and had the same opportunity to become an original vampire like alucard (remember the blood arrows?) but rejected it for the sake of staying human. im pretty sure the doctor later made him into a robot for the most part to keep him immortal-ish. the major pretty much wanted to prove to alucard that he was the better man for not giving in to monster-ism (aka beat him).

oh and walter turning traitor is not a problem but an interesting twist that leads to a side story (that never finished... yet cry ) and for others that died too fast, im sure the author didn't want to drag out actions scenes too much and wanted to progress the story to a close. also crusaders dying effortlessly was to create a stronger impact on how much a juggernaut alucard was. and the major didn't let alucard drink schrodinger till the bitter end was because he knew alucard would fuck shit up and cause lots of bloodshed and chaos. that and it would be harder to identify himself with the ocean of blood poring in. and seras was normal-ish after becoming a vampire because she didn't consume someone's soul (or whatever the procedure required) until the bitter end which let her become more monster like.

and this is also one of my favorite manga ever. the author's current series is pretty badass as well.

I actually liked the ending. I mean yeah lotsa people died but there were a lot of great scenes in the ending. Like when Ceres thanked Walter or the what Alucard said when father Anderson died. All the character development that went on. I suppose though, a lot of those deaths kinda had to happen, heck, it ended even happier than I expected it to.

I too am a female fan not too keen on the huge battle scenes so oddly reminiscent of Berserk and I practically glanced through those scenes (and over half of the major's lines).

1. You called that easy?!?. That crazy dude waded through like 150 zombies screaming like a madman, and was 5 seconds away from destroying the most powerful existence on the planet when he died.
2. No comment rly, kinda disappointed myself..... at least he always looked cool.
3. Welcome to religion. Nothing but high expectations and disappointments.
4. Don't remember everyone becoming a monster. Also seras drank blood that was freely offered.
5. He had wanted to have a real fight with alucard after seeing his power in the war
6. Maybe cuz he is a sadistic deranged psychopath that actually wanted all of his subolrdinates to die.

Not sure. Probably just wanted to live longer.
Cuz he has a lust for death and destruction.... and alucard is the epitome of that. So fighting him will always bring about more death than any other being.

Also I second the above. With how dark this manga is I expected much more horrifying deaths. I'm talking seras repeatedly skinned alive while she regenerates and watches integra be slowly burned alive..... that is a fully possible ending with how f'ed up the chars are in this series.

I think the real problem with the ending was the fact the author never finished "the dawn" even after the fact. Alot of the unanswered questions were supposed to be addressed there, so it just kinda leaves you hanging on @ the end. Sure it had closure for an ending, but because that back story never got finished it looks more like a rushed ending with piles of unanswered questions than a fully thought out work.
