Ren and Reira (Layla) Relationship? SPOILERS

Member 5:20 am, Oct 12 2009 Posts: 5	I have been wondering about the true nature of Ren and Reira's relationship. We know that Ren mentions on a few occasions that he had a crush on Reira before he met Nana. But, Yasu stole her away before he could make a move. Or is it that Ren sees her the same way Takumi does in viewing her as a Sister type figure? He is obviously protective of her and their music, and she is one of the few if only people that listens to him when he opens up about his relationship with Nana. I get the feeling that he also sees her as some sort of sancutary where he can find some comfort. On the other hand, Reira shows a more gentle and real side to Ren, who seems to accept her as she is and not some "beautiful caged singing bird" the way Takumi does. Spoiler (highlight to view) She is the one who stays up with him when he is going through withdrawal from the drugs and truly shows how much she cares for him. She also pleads with Takumi on Ren's behaf to postpone his work immediately so he can get help for his addictions. I think that they have a relationship with one another as confidants and being a deterent of feeling entirely alone. I would like to know what everyone else thinks!

Member 5:06 pm, Jan 7 2010 Posts: 4	i too have wondered about those two. at times it seems to me like ren likes reira but loves nana. i was hoping ai yazawa would explain theyre relationship a bit more but i dont think we will see that! i got the most confused when ren asks takumi to at least allow him(ren) to play his guitar when she sings!? i do know for sure though that reira loved him as a real good friend/brother she was always there for him when everyone else that knew what was going on with him looked the other way [the fact that he was a drug addict]

They don't really do anything except help each other out sometimes when they're down. Reira seems more into Shin/Takumi (ANOTHER DISCUSSION....) and Ren just loves Nana... Member 11:38 pm, Jun 27 2010 Posts: 3	I've only seen their relationship as friendship. Spoiler (highlight to view) The only romantic relations Reira has had is with Takumi, Yasu, and Shin. Ren probably sleeps around (but in the manga, we only see him with Nana). In the end, I'm sure Ren only thinks of Reira as a close friend. He couldn't turn to Takumi about the drug addiction, because that guy has other things on his mind. The other Trapnest member (the blond one what's-his-name) probably wouldn't be too great of a support, so all he has is Reira. Plus, they're childhood friends. I'm sure Yazawa planned to make Nana/Ren that destructive, yet indestructible couple, so I'm sure his heart (at least) is faithful to Nana. And as for Reira, I'm quite sure she's fallen in love with Shin and just wants to hang onto Takumi for selfish reasons. Last edited by In-tuition at 1:24 am, Dec 20 ________________
