And it rarely takes more than a week to learn a new attack, no matter how supposedly difficult it is to master. If it does take longer, there is a time-skip until it can be used. (Meh, this last one I can't be a hundred-percent sure about, since I've been falling behind on my shounen titles as of late.)

Agreed. I'm fine if the romance is in the background and doesn't play an important role in the series, but it gets rather annoying to me if it is brought to the front.
Save the shounen romance to the fanfiction authors. God knows we have enough of those. (Not to diss fanfiction authors, though. I love fanfiction, but I've got to admit, there are quite large sectors dedicated to certain pairings in shounen manga.)
