^ Yes, this.

This is the easiest choice imo.

If you don't have a CD, I suggest you go borrow one from someone or buy one.

Or heck, go on another computer and download it and burn it on a CD if you can't borrow one.

Back-up your files on an external and then reformat. (Or if you don't have one...save the stuff you really need on CDs? o-o)

I don't know what you're talking about. are you saying to get a windows program on a cd, or do i just put everything on the hard drive?

You need Windows CD to do that which you don't.
IMO, buying a Windows CD and reformating the computer would be the best choice since trying to remove those virus isn't working.
Buy a flash drive if your backup files are small enough or buy a external hard drive to store your important files (pictures, musics, documents, etc.)

Yes, you need it on a CD or flashdrive or whatever external bootable device you have that can hold 4gb with windows xp/7 in it. After that, go to your BIOS settings and set the cd or external device to boot first.

If you don't know how to do any of this, you can take this chance to learn how to by reading up on it or just take it to the computer shop and ask for a reformat.

Know that reformatting deletes everything to make your computer as good as new so back-up anything that's important though there's the risk of those files being the ones infected in the first place.

Reformatting doesn't require a windows cd, re-installing windows requires a windows cd, which is what I am guessing he will want to do after reformatting.

What they are suggesting you do, Karis, is erase your harddrive (reformat) and install windows on that clean harddrive. This would mean either partitioning (if it is not already) your harddrive to save things you want saved, or moving all files you want to save off the computer competely. But even then you might be saving infected files and end up undoing all your work. And since you are unfamiliar with even the term formatting I am not sure you're personally up to the task at this point.

...and depending on the make and model of your machine, or if you got it custom made. You might have to spend some time getting the correct drivers, which is software that make the parts in the computer work correctly. Windows comes with plenty of drivers to usually get the basics going, but it happens that graphics are sluggish, sound won't work, or wrong network card drivers which means no internet and no way of downloading drivers because of no internet... and that's especially fun when it's the only machine you have immediate access to.

Download ComboFix.exe from bleeping computer. Save it to desktop. Rename it to Combat.exe.

Restart your PC into safe-mode, run Combat.exe from desktop. IMPORTANT: You must do everything in safe-mode. DO NOT attempt to run any program you download unless you are in safe-mode. Yes, it will look completely ugly (huge) since you don't even have drivers.

Strong virus don't let themselves be deleted in normal windows mode (claiming to be running system files that can't be forced to stop)

Some antivirus don't take crap and just delete them anyway, however, in safe mode that is another history...

You have a few options

If your antivirus detects the viruses, but can't delete them, then save the location of those files (write them down or whatever) then seek and destroy manually in safe mode... THAT if we are talking about a couple...

If there are JUST too many, then look for an antivirus that can run in safe mode, however, most of those antivirus suck...

If all else fails, backup your files and format, BUT before infecting your computer with those nasty and probably infected files, just take them to another PC (A friend with some heavy anti virus defense or a PC you are willing to destroy, and test those files in there...

I've fixed this problem a number of times on different computers and I've found that getting rid of it for good isn't easy.

Step 1: Download and update malwarebytes. If you can't run it go to
http://www.softsailor.com/how-to/16944-how-to-remove-antivirus -vista-2010-virus-win-7-antispyware-2010-virus-and-xp-internet-secur ity-2010-virus.html
and part way down the page there should be the download link for a registry key fix under their step 2. Put the registry key fix on a flash drive and run it. This should allow you to run and install malwarebytes.

Step 2: Scan your computer using malwarebytes and perform any fixes it recommends after the scan.

Step 3: Shut down your computer and disconnect the internet before starting it up again.

Step 4: Once your computer is restarted go into the control panel and uninstall whatever browser you were using when the page would get redirected. Make sure that you remove all the files including bookmarks and preferences. If you don't have any other browser on your computer download the install file for you browser from another computer to a flash drive.

Step 4: Scan your computer with malwarebytes again then restart your computer and reconnect the internet.

Step 5: Reinstall your browser from the flash drive or download the file in another browser directly to your computer and install it.

Your problem should now be fixed. There are lots of version of this virus so I can't be 100% sure if it will work but the version I have dealt with were all fixed this way.
