Lately, I've been obsessed with Ramen, Fatty Tuna, Onigiri and such, i've never been very influenced, but i've been reading/wathicng naime for about two years now, and i've never, EVER had any cravigns for these food items.

Oh by the way, im diabetic, so i know the sugar filled stuff is a no-no but still sooooo good, i've never liked anything with that "Fishy" taste either... you know that taste when the seafood has been frozen too long of somehting like that?? yeah, that "fishy" taste, i'd always feel sick whenever i eat somehting like that... but fresh fish is fine XD

i'll list what foods i've been wanting and i can probably link it to an anime.

I've always loved Pocky but i've been wanting it more and more after wathign Onegai Teacher... -.-
Ramen. Naruto muchconfused
Onigiri?? i see it all the time... i dotn know why but i jsut feel like eating it all the time.
Curry.. I occasionally eat curry but i've been wanting it more and more??
Gyuudon. Never had it before... but i want it now for some reason...
Fatty Tuna. Loving it but my wallet isn't.
Sushi.. everyone's favourite snack XD... maybe not EVERYONE...
Soba. Easy to make and tasty XD
Cakeconfused everybody loves cake, but when i see the cake on anime's i jsut want to have it more and more and more.. and then i go buy some to eay TT.TT
Crepes? LoL...
Takoyaki... -.- I Don't even like octopus.. yet...\
...And The List Goes On...

so ill ask the question, Does anime/manga effedt your choice of consumeables? if so WHY!!!

If its just me then i guess i have a giant case of Influenza?

I don't have any direct links like you do, but reading manga did make me interested in Japanese food in general.

Since I am #1 poor; #2 living in a small town with one very small international grocery and a single Japanese restaurant (both in the next town over, actually); and #3 vegetarian, I've settled for trying out Japanese recipes at home (checked out cookbooks from the library). It's quite an adventure making a recipe when you have no clear idea of how it's actually supposed to turn out! laugh

Its weird, i now listen to japanese music, eat japanese food and can semi-speak japanese... everyone around me is saying "Get a Japanese Girlfreind" ... its been bothering me for a while too. but i wont go on too long about my rants and get back onto topic.
poor you... only one international shop... i live about a 5 minutes walk away from a big shopping district, thye got everything, resteraunts grocery shops ect. but that made no differance. and i NEVER even thought about going veggie smile wink grin too hard for me :/ i love my meat biggrin

I really wanna try fatty tuna it looks pretty damn good. Also, red bean paste? Is it japanese? regardless it is awesome.

Im allergic to peauts so the only asian food i can eat is japanese, b/c apparently most of the rest cook with peanuts. How hard is some of the japanese foods yall talked about to make?

I tried do make something at home, like TofuQueen, but somehow I believe that she was more succesfull than me none
the problems with making any asian food are mostly caused by the ingredients, like for example bamboo ( you can get it only in cans, at least where I live).

Actually it's not so hard to make. You just have to be very carefull while reading the recipe to not to mess anything. And never try the recipes you found in manga. It's juts a good advice.
Good luck and have fun!

I've actually had pretty good luck...not that I know what most of it is supposed to be like, but it's usually pretty tasty, regardless! laugh Konnyaku is kind of gross, though, felt like I was eating slugs or something. dead

My biggest success is daifuku, rice cakes with sweet bean or chestnut filling. Yummy!!

Mostly I find that it's just kind of difficult to get used to a whole different way of cooking. Finding ingredients can also be a problem; there are a fair number of recipes that I'm saving for "someday" because you just can't get that stuff here. For the most part, though, the recipes themselves aren't hard.

(And Tachu, being vegetarian is pretty easy if your mindset adjusts so that meat = gross dead thing that you'd never eat unless you were desperate. bigrazz )

The only way manga affects my diet is it causes me to forget to eat thus I end up losing weight laugh I'll sit straight through about 10 volumes, I've lost quite a few lbs that way <.<
No but seriously it did make me try out a lot of new things. Thanks to manga I got addicted to things like takoyaki & curry dishes bigrazz Especially with mangas that include recipes at the end biggrin

thought it supposed to be "affect" but okay.

Not sure, but i love eating noodles and slurp them like in the manga when reading one. And ramen was not from the manga, i was obsess with it already xD If you ask what affects me from reading mangas, it's when i keep on sitting and lying and eat to read the manga, that's why i'm getting fat xD

I always ate Top Ramen before, but Naruto made me decide to eat at actual Ramen restaurants because I wanted the big ramen bowl with all the stuff in it like in the Manga. Then I started eating dango a lot after watching Samurai Champloo. I had always had pocky around since I was a little kid, but when I noticed it was Japanese writing on the side, I became suspicious ~ until I started reading manga, then it seemed ok.
Finally yesterday I bought a 1.5 liter of Calpico water. I drank the whole thing yesterday. Tomorrow when I go to the asian market near my house, I will buy Pocari Sweat and try that.

Yes I would say Manga has affected my diet.

I almost said no, but I remeber buying some dango after seeing it in Samurai Champloo too. I wouldn't say it affects my diet on daily/weekly basis, but once in a while it makes me curious to try the foods I see there.

If only I could find where they sell takoyaki (sp?). I already love octopus but I've never tried octopus dumplings... sounds delicious biggrin

Japanese curry is pretty different from Indian curry. I like both, but prefer Japanese. (S & B Golden Curry....yum!! biggrin )
