I don't wanna dye my hair, 'cause it would look unnatural to me. I like my hair the way it is. smile

Let's see:

When I was a teenager I used to get natural highlights from going swimming in the summers, and everyone thought they were bought or bottled.

When I turned 23, I got my hair tinted reddish for my birthday. I'd just started a new job and just moved to Nashville. It turned out pretty well, but it was only temporary dye, so it came out relatively quickly.

I started using henna occasionally around 3 years ago, when I joined the SCA, because several of my SCA friends have regular henna parties. I had tried it once myself without knowing what I was doing, and it didn't work (and made a huge mud-mess), but when they helped and told me what to do, it turned out great - slightly reddish but not overpowering.

I got lowlights (darkened instead of lightened) a couple of years ago, just to test how I would look with a darker color instead of lighter, and I really liked it. This was also temporary color. It turned out well because I chose a color that naturally matched my own.

And last April I had my hair permanently dyed as dark as I could get it without going pitch black. Of course, it's coming out now, so it's not as dark as it was at first, but it still meshes pretty naturally with my own hair color, so it's hard to tell that it's coming out unless you stare at it in the sunlight.

Except for the one attempt at henna on my own without knowing what I was doing, I've always had pretty good luck with hair color.

I've always wanted to go so black that my hair shimmered blue (rather like the X-men's Psylock), but I've never actually done that yet, and I doubt I will. =)

I first got highlights when I was in Grade 7. I have naturally dark hair, so I got some brown ones. Everyone thought they were blonde highlights because of the contrast... but they weren't.

Then I fully dyed my hair for the first time in Grade 8. Erm, it didn't really work out and the dye didn't really catch onto my hair, so you couldn't tell a difference. Then I got highlights done at the end of the year for my graduation.

Grade 10 I fully dyed my hair brunette with highlights (again, they looked blonde because of the contrast). I loved this hair colour. Had it like this for a few months, but then I missed a few of my roots touch-up dates and was "fuck it" and let my hair grow back out and I was back to black...

Redyed about a year ago to brown again. Love it like it currently is. (: Roots are prominent atm, so I have to get them done within the next week or so. ;P Or re-dye my hair... this time blonde. >_>; Ahhh, the bleach will kill. XD; But whatever.

Or I was thinking of going red.

Whatever it is, I'll get it done within the next or so: roots touch up, bleach&blonde, or just go red.

P.S: I've always gotten my hair dyed professionally. Never once at home. My friends were idiots once and tried to dye my hair blonde with those at-home dyes, but I told them to fuck off. Friend got pissy that I was choosing a "salon over her". Geez, I wonder why. ;/

NEVER GET IT DONE AT HOME. It kills your hair and fades out. My hair dyes have never faded out.

I've had my hair... very very red/orang-y but it was the fade-out type dye, purple, which was a nice color but only held one wash, after that it went dark red and stayed like that for.. probably a year (until I cut my hair short again XD ), purple in my bangs, the only time it was "professionally" done and it wasn't a success, a lot of black (both blue-black and brown-black) in my bangs, which still hasn't totally disappeared, my bangs are still darker on one side XD and recently non-permanent red-brown, which must have been the best color up to now biggrin

I'm planning on dying it either red other slightly lighter blond next time. Unless I get the sudden urge to make it blue. You never know bigrazz

I've never dyed my hair and I don't really care to. Maybe one day dye the very tips or put one green streak. That might be kinda cool. XD

i use to have natural hair like over a foot long, pitch black, thick and dark - towards the end of my freshman year in college i thought i should try dying it white just to see how it looked (w/ no experience about bleaching) it turned out this hazlenut orange - the horror!

i tried a few bleeching it a few more times, but stopped before it ended up blonde, finally gave up and died it a really dark plum purple - if you have dark black hair, i strongly suggest you test how long it will take before you can progressively get different colors in your hair

i dunno i thought it worked for dennis rodman when he did green and purple, thought it might be b/c he's a celebrity and i'm fond of stuff he's done

guess it depends on your fashion sense, style, and look though

heh. that's the funny - since for the same reason i decided to dye my hair (regretable, but i think it's good to try things you'd normally be oppose to - course this wouldn't be good with tatoos)

If I remember correctly, my sister did some highlights to me when I was 10, and just a year ago I wanted blue highlights so my parents allowed me in that color, they allowed me to dye my hair as long as it wasn't too 'punk', and well they turned out bad, the highlight seemed multicolored, and the stages of de-coloring was a long one, you would see my highlights change all the weeks until it reach to blond (it went from blue-purple-pink-blueish/green- green- greenish/yellow-blond)...Yeah, I decided to leave my hair as it is from now on, and waited until my hair grew a bit to chop off the highlights. XD

Dyeing my hair does not turn out well. I tried dyeing it a nice darker red but it turned out really bright. After trying red a few times I tried a blue-black, don't know what happened but it was just black, just to say black hair does not go well with me.
Any way all the hair dye washes out of my hair really quick. Even the stuff that says its permanent.

My sister really likes to dye her hair, or she used too. She used to dye it so much she forgot what her natural hair color looked like.

I've never tried, nor do I plan to... It's not that I really don't want to change it, it's just... I'm quite lazy. Too much effort. Why bother? I just don't care enough about my appearance to care what color my hair is. laugh

Yeah, I know that there is already a dyed hair thread:http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=15631

But what I'm asking is, how often do you dye Your hair(for people that dyes Hair)??

Well, I dye my hair every 1 and 1/2 months everytime I'll get my haircut (and I Want to dye it With different color every time), do you guys think that it is safe, or is it bad for the hair?? And no, I'm not gay or something, I'm just following trends or something..

OH, And I always go to salons to get my hair cut and dyed, doing it by yourself is just so taxing, and I don't wanna mess up in doing it..

THANKS

I already like my natural hair color. So I've never tried dying my hair. I'd like to try it some time but not in the near future. I want to try a nice red color or perhaps a lighter shade of brown.

I have never dyed my hair nor do I actually have any desire to but as the option says, we'll see. I think black or really dark brown hair suits my style. Also my hair is black but the surface of my hair is more browning because of strong sun exposure-some strands are light enough to look blonde.
