Okay, this just came to me suddenly, but what "parts" of a manga do you prefer to be good in the case that not all "parts" are good? O_O Just a sudden question! So basically, if you picked "Beginning, Middle" that means that you would prefer the manga to have a killer hook-up where you immediately get into the story, and then the manga proves to be continually good throughout... until the ending, which just kinda disappoints you, and you go sad!face. sad

Capiche?

Personally, I prefer the good "Beginning, Ending" combo. At least it hooks me in well, the middle can be mediocre, but I can endure that, since I already got attached to the characters (from the beginning), and then the manga finishes off with a worthy ending.

Ta-da~!

Begining to get you hooked, but most important of all is a good ending, I really dont care if the rest s**ks when it has a great ending that makes up for the bad parts ^^

It's gotta have a good beginning, so it keeps my interest and I wont drop it straight away because I see potential.

I'd like it to have a decent ending as well, but I don't expect much anymore these days when it comes to endings. It's hard to find endings that I'm fully satisfied with.
Most of them do make me go "sad!face" xD

I'm torn bewteen beginning middle and beginning ending, because realistically, those satisfying endings are hard to find, and I still want to be interested in what's happening during the middle parts so I don't think "This is getting stupid" *drops* (Like a few people have been doing with Naruto)

But because we're talking about what we'd prefer to have, I think i'll go "Beginning, Ending" as I'd prefer it if more mangas had worthy endings. I can usually pull through half-hearted middles.

Logically the beginning better be good. But the worst thing is a spoiled beginning.
Remembering Chisa x Pon manga (it starts with plain 'usual japanes school boy' ecchi, but according to comments and warning some heavy drama is going to take place), I picked middle-end.

The middle for me, no beggining-middle or middle-end, but middle-middle! laugh

Having a good start is good, but if what follows doesn't keep up it's just a waste. As for the ending, for me it's usually like "I see so it's finished" and nothing else.

I'd say beginning-end because if the middle is mediocre, I'd need a good hook from the beginning to keep reading until the end. Plus, bad endings just ruin the manga. Last impressions are important too!

The middle.

I will usually try to read a few chapters or even volumes into it to see if I'll like it,
but if the middle doesn't measure up I won't bother with it.
If I'm curious about how it goes I'll just skip to the end.
As Tsuto said: "I see so it's finished."

Whenever I start a new manga I don't have any expectations, so I just wait for it to bring me in, and it usually happens in the middle, since the beginning usually just makes me bored and only rarely do I pick something up that makes me want to continuously read all the way through. Making anything completely enjoyable from cover to back is a challenge in itself.

Like the beginning of Bakuman was awesome, I was really into it -- but then I stopped reading it where I did for a reason, since to continue felt like a drag. Same with Futari Ecchi, and Onani Master Kurosawa (which I really, really liked at first) they all showed promise at the beginning but once the middle came arou-- zzzZZzZZz

Middle to end.
Sometimes, the plot and characters need time to develop and the mangaka has to find his/her way to express himself/herself. The overall idea has to be good though, otherwise I wouldn't be interested to begin with.
Plus, the middle is the main part of the manga! If the main part sucks, why bother at all?^^
Reading REAL and loving it! Damn, Inoue Takehiko is the greatest mangaka I have ever seen. But he needed the first 2 or three volumes to get me. Gets better with every chapter. This is how it is done!

Middle and end for me...
I usually stick it out with manga for a few volumes unless the first chapter is completely stupid.
I don't need the beginning to be amazing, but not completely horrible. The beginning needs time to develop anyways. Judging manga right from the beginning can make you miss out on a really good manga.
But the middle is something that NEEDS to be good because that's basically the whole climax of the story, if the climax isn't good, how do you expect the ending to be good?

I'd prefer a consistent level of quality, but if I had to pick, I'd choose a good ending. Beginnings tend to be quite raw, but endings are usually a lot more worked on.

The middle.
I like to give everything I read a chance and not judge it right away, so I'll read at least the first few volumes before I drop it, so a good beginning doesn't have to be there for me (though it would be nice). Plus, as others have mentioned, the middle is the main part of the manga.
It's how you get to the end that's interesting.

Beginning and middle. The beginning to get me interested and the middle to keep me interested. I've stopped reading many things because the first couple of chapters weren't interesting or because the manga got boring/absurd half way.

The ending doesn't have to be "good" because most "good" endings are generic and cheesy and some make me wanna puke >.>.. So even if it's a bad ending I end up accepting it and sometimes even liking it because I liked the story from the beginning. I also like to be surprised at the end so not everything has to end the way I expect it to 8D

If I had to pick like that it'd be Middle and End.

Because there's nothing I hate more than being hooked at the beginning of something and then it turning to crap somewhere in the middle/at the end. It just makes me feel like I wasted a whole lot of time. And it wastes more time because of the time I keep reading it hoping it will get better.
That's why I don't trust first episodes/chapters no matter how good they are because the people who make them do that on purpose to hook you.

A story that ends badly gives me no sense of satisfaction from reading it and only serves to annoy me.
A story with a bad middle is also detestable, because the middle is the main/longest part.
A story with a bad beginning is alright.

Lots of good series start off a little slowly. Unless I absoulutely hate a manga from the first chapter I'll keep reading it for three or four chapters (more if it's a longer series). If I still don't like it I drop it, but more often than you'd think things do get better after the beginning. I wouldn't have read some of my favorite manga if I judged everything on the first few chapters and that would be a shame.

Bad endings just destroy my brain and make me want to cry.
And I mean, it isn't that hard to make a good ending.
If you need to kill off the main character in the end, just make sure it makes sense.

That was such a good movie. n_n

Bad beginnings don't bother me too much, but if the middle is stupid I will stop reading.
