A man (I think he was a writer?) returns to his hometown and bumps into a friend/acquaintance he had in school. People used to be afraid or intimidated by this person because he was fair or sickly? Or maybe they made fun of him. And there's something about a building that people were afraid of.
Argh. Vague.
I'm fairly certain this was part of a collection.

Bump. (o^-^o)/
Been trying to find this one and to no luck. I thought I read it but I was confusing that description with Hatsukoi Yokochou, which is definitely not it since I don't remember anything about a particular building and everyone (townspeople) gets along with both characters.
Oh, and it isn't a oneshot. XD;

By any chance is it Othello? There is a story in there called Snow White in Summer about a boy who returns to school and is reunited with a friend who gets angry when he is teased about his fair skin and call him "Snow". The last story, Night's Abyss, is about a writer who lost his wife and moves into a vacant house with a gloomy atmosphere. There were rumours of a dragon god who lived in the swamp near by that consumes souls.
I also thought of Hadashi de Waltz wo, because a writer returns to town and develops a relationship with an old friend (or lover??). The next story in it is about a guy who got injured and does not do track anymore ...but there is nothing about an illness, fair skin, or being teased, as far as I can tell. Nothing in this volume about a creepy house either.

Ah, darn. I feel like I should know this and it has been bugging me since I first read your post. I really hope someone figures it out. I'll keep hunting through my collection until then.
Good luck!

Hmm, sounds familiar but I can't make it out with just that description. Do you remember any other details?
EDIT: is it perhaps the last story of Ai no Gebokutachi
