I don't know why they just couldn't make the show 90 years in the future and let Aang live till he was 80ish atleast.. His son could still be a viable mentor..

So you know that while an Avatar is still alive, there can't be a new Avatar.....? And it is only 70 years in the future.

I like the fresh new cast. It allows for the writers and creators to start new, using the lessons they learned from making the first avatar.

nothing of what made the original show great is in this ppl
the 3 main characters and their strugle to save a world from the evil empire of japa...i mean the fire nation
is gone

what we have is a very "able" girl with an atitude from the get go that do not really have any problem
maybe some evil school bully here and there but...from what we have seen so far...its not very interesting

The plot in this series revolves around a hot-headed Korra who is trying to finish learning the four types of bending while trying to deal with the anti-bending revolution that is occurring. These people think that bending is bad and will act upon their beliefs. That is the underlying problem that will be fleshed out in 26 episodes.

Also, I don't know if you watched the first Avatar thoroughly, but there's a very huge difference between the quality of the first episode and the last 2-hour finale. There was so much growth and maturity gained by the writers/animators/Track team by doing those three seasons that really brought out the spectacular finale—animation, art, plot, and music-wise. Korra is merely a continuation of that maturity. This series is a lot more sophisticated, while retaining the same humor, romance, action, and adventure of the previous Avatar.

Think of this as an anime. A very high quality anime. A lot of anime don't have the mission of trying to save the world? So why watch them?

Ingenuity of bending - check
Awesome soundtrack - check
Sweeeeet animators + awesome choreographers - check

Considering not much of the plot has been revealed - you know...with the show still in production and all, and only the comic-con panel+trailer to base judgement on, I think its fair to say that it is waaaaaaaay too early to say criticize it. roll eyes

Yeah...crappy critic, the exit's to the left.

Actually looks pretty good. The original show left me with a bit of a bittersweet feeling but this seems to have better animation and a darker plot (always a plus).

im not really saying its bad to start with an allready finished product
she is going to kick ass from start to finish
and its going to look good

but what made the first show work as a whole was the how they came together how they grew stronger together and how they developed
that makes you connect with the characters and care about them
and you want to see more

throwing an allready godlike being with an atitude problem at us to me does not sound like the best idea

and if the theme is going to be her being persecuted for her "religious/political" belifs well...that can get boring fast...it sounds boring to me atleast

the first show was good so im sure they know what they are doing
hopefully they make an even better show this time
but so far from what i have seen/read its not that interesting

and when i think about i actually watch alot of save the world anime...sadly...
macross,gundam,legend of the galactic hero,combattler v,raideen lol the list goes on

If I'm not mistaken, didn't they try to capture Aang so that a new Avatar wouldn't be born??

And I know it is only 70.. I said I didn't know why they couldn't make it 90..

Seperately. Obviously this show has none of what made the original show great is in these people.. I'll let you in on a little secret. They weren't in The Legend of Aang either when it started. It's called development. Also, noone apart from Korra has been introduced yet..

I'm super excited about the show!!!

Dante Basco (voice of Prince Zuko from the original series) is set to be a voice actor again on this series. Who's voice he is doing is yet to be announced. That means there is a possibility for Zuko to be alive in Legend of Korra!

After reading some of these comments I wanted to add some updated information:

-There will be 26 Episodes. According to this site it will be two seasons long. Season 1 will have 12 episodes and Season 2 will have 14.

-Michael and Bryan (the creators of the show) will personally be writing all 26 episodes in the series, according to Ugo's 2010 Comic-Con interview

-The Cabbage guy's legend will continue, but in a different form!

-There will be a gAang! Korra is featured with a Firebender and Earthbender on a Comic-Con Legend of Korra poster. The two are said to be brothers and are presumably Korra's masters for those elements.

Dont want to piss off people but here are few facts they have to get over if they want this to be a success, 1st, the avatars in their previous lives as far as i can remember werent they all male?,2nd doesnt he have to come from an air bender?, unless u can make air benders from thing air guess aang wasnt the last air bender after all ^^. People talked to anng as if he was the reincarnation of the previous avatars and u all know how reincarnation mean its the same soul so this new girl will share anng's soul? making it 70 years seems pretty fast for a reincarnation.

Before someone starts flamming me bigrazz I didnt actualy saw the thing, people were always spoiling me the show that somehow i lost interest in watching it. I did saw the movie but somehow it had a diferent feeling from how i felt the show so IT must be a somehow diferent plot(no wonder 2nd part is no where to be seen).

Nah, the avatar 2(?) reincarnations before Aang was a woman

It cycles. Air->Water->Earth->Fire

You must not have watched the first series...

1. The Avatar can be a girl, and has been a girl in the past. Aang actually talked to some of his past lives and a few of them were female. A recurring past avatar is a female named Keoshi[sp?]

2. The avatar reincarnates as a bender of the NEXT element. I believe it goes Air > Water > Earth > Fire... An Avatar must also learn all the elements in this order, starting by their home element.

3. Most reincarnations will reincarnate with the person being born the time the previous life ended... But it could also be centuries later if there is no need for a reincarnation to occur. So yes, Aang is inside that new girl, so to speak.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Also, some facts about the series that I've gleaned over a few searches... The girl is a water bender, so she's the avatar after Aang.
The one who teaches her Airbending is Aang and Katara's son.
The series is only supposed to be about 12-13 episodes long.
Apparently some of the characters from the first series will appear in the new series, but not in a way most would think [I think something like flashbacks and stories].
Well there you have it.
ITT people shouldn't talk about things they have no knowledge of. Mome.
The new series seems interesting; I loved the first series and saw all of the episodes.
I'll definitely watch biggrin
Edit: The bear looks nice, but it's still no match for Appa embarrassed
