I've been following the story for so long, dropping it now would be a waste of all the reading I did. Now even if the story does not do the reader justice, the reader would like to do justice to the story by finishing it.

I think that's pretty much it. And Naruto isn't a lame series so it's pretty much worthy to be read for as long as it exists.

Plus, Kishimoto has introduced so many characters in the Naruto that it's pretty much impossible to not have a character you are initially interested in. That particular character could drive you continue reading the series regardless of how you feel about the manga. So Naruto is addictive in many amazing ways.

And if you read articles about "a kid killing himself" for a particular character, you shouldn't question the integrity of how much of an impact the manga brings about to those who read it.

I've stopped reading Naruto for about 4 months now. I just can't bother with it any more. It's more tiring than entertaining now.

I wouldn't use this as a gauge for how good or entertaining the manga is. That kid most likely had other underlying issues that pushed him to suicide or he/she was an idiot with nothing to live for.

Yeah, there are people all over the world that do tragic things like that and make it look like it's linked to something like their favourite manga for example. But I doubt someone would seriously do that without having serious underlying issues.

Concerning Naruto, I'm seriously fed up with it. I'm looking forward to the end and I honestly only still read it because I've spent to much time doing so, it would just feel like a waste.

It was one of the first manga I started reading, but when you realise there is much better shounen manga out there that just doesn't have the luck to be as popular, Naruto doesn't seem as great.

This manga is just effin epic when you read it at midnight...
The hammered down sanity due to lack of sleep compliments the crazy ass fights (Somethin somethin somethin thousand hermit statue thingy on senju's back...? some kinda ultra sage mode...? too lazy to look at the proper name lol...:< biggrin dead laugh :<)

On a completely unrelated note, I just now realized the pic in my signature is actually a link aswell...

We keep reading it because after this many years, we no longer have a choice. It just needs to be done so we can have closure in our lives and move on. Like with Stephen King's Dark Tower series.

Unfortunately, I often wonder whether Berserk will EVER end. Not that I don't love the epic scope, but my bookshelf is getting full.

No he's saying their almost feed up with the bs in the story. What their asking is if you feel the same way, why do you read it; for me it's the same I started when I was young and I hate leaving things half done (our brains are actually programmed not too). I'm also hoping it will get better too (not looking so good). Besides talking like this is good maybe he'll come across stuff like his and fix the issues in the story. bigrazz

Maybe it's each to their own, but personally, i've dropped the series at the beginning of sasuke-turning-rogue arc. I do checked it every few 50/100 chapters or so to see where it's heading tho, just to see if it'll finally end and for some sense of closure.

Not sure about now, but I started reading the series when OP,Naruto,Bleach was the top 3 shounen jump series. And until now, only One Piece alone managed to keep me invested in the series. cool

Yep, I read Naruto and OP from when I was kid, and bleach not too long ago (3years ago, maybe?)
But the one I keep on reading until now is only One Piece, I feel kinda bad for dropping Naruto about half a year ago, but it gets boring. While odacchi never failed to excite me(Yeah, Luffy!! wink )

But when Naruto ends, I'm going to read the last few chapters, just to make sure I know how it end smile

most of the responses are: theres worse manga out there
there is also BETTER manga out there. why stick with mediocre when a little bit of searching could get you so much more. I understand the "leaving things undone" but... This site has a freaking forum section dedicated to finding new manga. like. seriously... it doesn't make sense to me.

I still read it, more because I'm so far into it that it's a waste to just stop. It's okay. I still am caught up to Naruto, Bleach and OP. But the first two is more to just read because I'm already so close to the end. OP is something I just love. It never bores me. OP is just epic, simple as I can say it!

OP, Naruto, Bleach are my Wednesday reads.
They fill the spare time I got when I wait for series that come once a month or even less.

^^^ This. I've invested far too much of my time to just stop reading. I can already imagine how it ends, but I'm still going to stick with it. I did almost drop it when Tobi turned out to be Obito. What a let down to make the likeliest candidate of Tobi's true identity. Like another person said, Naruto, OP and Bleach are my Wednesday reads. Although Bleach should have ended after Aizen was defeated, but that's a story for another day. I just hope they make the last fights good ones. I wouldn't be opposed to Naruto or Sasuke (or BOTH) dying. That'd kind of make up for the "Tobi's identity" disaster.
I can't stand the anime, though. It has so much filler that there's probably the same amount of filler episodes as there are main storyline episodes. roll eyes

It's not like people are reading just one manga at a time or have a limit to how many they can read. Yes there is a ton of stuff better out there and just speaking for myself I read that too. Just because there is better stuff does not mean having to throw away other stuff. We can read new stuff and still keep reading Naruto to see how it ends or because there are worse things out there.

I read Naruto but that does not mean it is my go to first manga. It's there and it is decent so why not? Maybe I'll read i the day a group puts up a new chapter or the next or the next week. I found a new series I liked yesterday, does that mean I should abandon Naruto simply because I think that series is better?
