What kind of main characters do you love and what characters make you sick? I love masculiane and strong characters, especially secretly pretty ones for female mains. For male main I like it if he doesn't really care about girls or treats them like crap ( im horrible ) and characters who are really strong and are confident in their strength ( even better if they never lose ). Female main characters i hate are ones that dont get their feelings clear like " what is this feeling " kinda crap, overly innocent characters, or characters that put up with everything. The male characters I hate are ones that are total pervs ( unless its in a funny/ cool way, like they actually love the person ), wimpy/ measly/ femine characters, or weak characters.

I always end up liking the tragic/hot side characters for some reason...or the best friend who doesn't get the girl...I guess im an underdog type of person.
Not once have I ever liked a main character, and i do agree with you about the kind you hate. Although i have to add that i hate girls with giant DD cup boobs.

i like cool guys, seme, uke,the yagami-light-type, male tsundere, intelligent and handsome, girls who crossdress as boys (not all but most of them), characters whith funny fears (lik amatsu-kun), libary-girls, silent & strong girls, guys who are small for their age, shota
i dislike: stupid big boobs characters, some female tsundere, characters who are useless while the others fight (but not if they are children), dattebayo-guys, perverts, fangirls(they are annoying in manga and anime), most of the otakus (the clichée ones), some imoto

I like:
-Fluffy/cute male characters.
-Sarcastic, crazy and slightly sadistic characters.
-Very sadistic but mature characters.
-Archetypes.
-Characters who feel very refreshing or unique.
-Characters who are slightly insane.
-Strong female leads.
-Side characters who never seem to win the day, no matter how much I root for them.
-Characters who are wrapped in pathos and angst (read: classic shounen-ai).
-Characters who are mysterious.
-Characters who are very dynamic and might just be totally twisted (like something from a Yuki Kaori story).
I dislike:

Characters I like:
Normal characters that have depth and life experiences. Characters like Keitaro Urashima. Sosuke Sagara from FMP(including the novelization of his character). The main cast from Honey and Clover.
Characters I don't like:
Abnormal characters that are off the chart extreme in any direction. Like being an overly naive teenager with no idea what the act of sex is or what it entails (IE thinking it's an edible thing). To someone who out right wants to destroy the world because they stubbed their toe when they were twelve and no one gave them a band-aid. Pointlessly Yandere/Tsundere characters fall into this category. In all honesty, the last decently honest Tsundere character in Manga/Anime was Rin Tohsaka - every Tsundere since then has been nothing but a cookie cutter character there to fill in the token Tsundere role.

I can't think of what I like right now, but I can't stand tsundere characters and design-wise characters that look [u]too[u] much like the opposite gender. A girly looking guy or a kind of many looking girl is alright, but if the character looks so much like the opposite gender that I can't imagine them as their own gender 
That's just going too far. This goes a bit more for men; even if I can kinda see them as boys it's still too much.

I like the selfish main lead type of characters, and characters that are not perfect in general.
I hate the characters types which are taken to the extreme (really stupid, really weak, really useless)

I like leads that are strong mentally and, physically is a plus. They think straight and are not wishy washy.
I hate weak male lead and I don't buy that 'he's a good, kind hearted guy' crap.

- kind characters
- responsible/hardworking characters
- idiotic/irresponsible characters (makes little sense when you compare it to my third point)
- funny characters
- sarcastic characters
- happy characters
- tragic characters
- lonely characters
- mysterious/otherworldly character
- strong characters (strong in spirit,but physically isn't a bad thing
)
- flawed characters
- and of course good looking characters ^_^
Dislike:
- misogynistic/sexist characters
- disloyal characters
- pointless romantic rivalry characters
- morally twisted beyond redemption (if I like a twisted character, he/she has most likely not reached the point of no return yet)
- mean characters
This means most yandere, tsundere, smut rapists and so on. Anyone who uses violence or threat of violence to get what they want is a low person.
I also dislike the weak in spirit characters who put up with this crap/are in a relationship with them. There is rarely a good excuse to hurt or humiliate someone. Not all yandere or tsundere are bad btw. It's just mean characters in
general cause an awful lot of damage to people and it's even worse when no spines characters don't have the brains or guts to know when enough is enough. It's abusive almost, like domestic violence

I like nice, friendly characters (duh). Witty and responsible. I also like it when female characters are quiet and blunt, and when male characters are open minded and almost overly cheerful.
I don't like cliche love interests who seem too perfect to be human, who magically fall in love with the weak dramatic protagonist who I equally dislike. I don't like characters who act like they have developed, when in reality they haven't in the least and the author just tries to mislead the audience into believing that he successfully depicted his/her story.

I like characters that seem real. They have realistic actions, realistic thoughts. Make mistakes, get others angry and can apologize. I guess I like them "down-to-earth". I especially love when I find realistic romances because so many shoujos are just way off the chart in unbelievability.
Basically, I hate any characters that are overly mary-sue/gary-stu ish.
