I really like/love the band SID (shido)
I love their songs, albums, and the band itself. First, I was amazed by the solo parts of SHINJI (the guitarist), and the tune of the intros, then when I finally get to know the band, I got to like them even more. I was infatuated by the voice of the vocalist (Mao) together with the beats of the drummer (Yuuya) and the low tunes of the bassist (Aki). Then when I search for them for more details, I realized that they actually have good looks, so I get to like them more (esp. bassist AKI)
I discovered them from a popular anime, FULL METAL ALCHEMIST BROTHERHOOD. They were the one who sang the 1st ending of this series, which is entitled "USO", and also the ending for the 1st season of FULL METAL ALCHEMIST, which is "RAIN", and another song for FMA brotherhood, "HIGASA", and currently their making a new album for another anime called BLEACH, title: "Ranbu no Melody".
Getting addicted to the band, I would always watch their live performances and interviews on Youtube, after going home from school.
*more success for the band!!!

I find jrock bands to be mediocre, however the only jrock band I seem to find very good is Supercar

When it comes to how good a band is, I look at how they perform live. Supercar really plays well on their live performances.

Supercar-My Way

FLOW - Not only do they perform a variety of great music, I got to see 'em in concert and get autographs at Fanime 2010. REALLY down to earth and friendly guys. Heck, they even came to hang out and watch the LM.C concert at Fanime. Sat right there amongst the fans.

Beat Crusaders - You've probably even heard some of their stuff already, they provided most of the music for the Beck anime. Or maybe "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight" for Bleach? Excellent music, and surprisingly, something like 90% of their songs have English-only lyrics. Just an interesting fact. It's a damn shame that they're breaking up.

Does toe count as J-rock? laugh

More literally, I guess LAST ALLIANCE. I've been listening to their stuff since I was in high school... it's good in an extremely conventional sort of way. They don't really do anything original, but I probably have a nostalgic attachment.

NightSwan also said that she wanted to peg me, once, but I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or a threat...

Abingdon Boys School would definitely rank as one of my top favs followed by:
ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION,
NICO touches the walls,
FLOW (though its a sorta hit and miss),
Stereopony,
SCANDAL (if you would allow them in the genre)
...the list goes on

Japanese Rock. A silly term that some people even consider a proper sub-genre.
Have to second Supercar though, fantastic stuff...
