I'm not sure if this question has been asked before, but out of curiosity, will there still be weekly publishing of manga going on after this whole earthquake incident?

Depends entirely on every factor that requires to release a manga i suppose, such as safety and if printing is possible but at this point its not viable to say anything i think as it is way to early to think about manga while the state of the land is like that, as unfortunate as it may be if the manga doesnt come out i suggest toughen it up as they are in state of disorder and asking people to work after such a disaster is unreasonable sad
Even if the manga is ready for publishing doesnt mean it should be published as people need time to recover from such an event. Just a opinion dont bash me pwease xD

And if someone goes saying WHERES MY MANGA, when its supposed to be released with no care bout the state of Japan nor/or knowledge ima be silently pissed hoping he/she gets bashed/temp banned for inconsideration and only thinking of his manga dosage

I would say no, as a lot of mangaka still haven't been found. No one knows even were Hiro Mashima or Kishimoto is still. And there was a lot of damage. I think people are going to switch priorities around a little bit in till this mess is cleaned up. cry

oh really? Kishimoto still hasnt been found? damm embarrassed
Naruto havent been exactly my favorite manga after the the time skip but still he brings good stuff compared to others, hopefully hell be found safe and sound (safely with shelter and food but just cant inform people) thinking about more great stories to come for Naruto and future projects smile (as hes stuck no harm meant by saying hes thinking bout stories instead of survival)

Pretty sure both these mangaka's had been confirmed alive and well. There is a website for all manga/anime artists which checks up on them and confirmed they are OK. I think I saw at list Naruto's and Bleach's creators on the list there. Still can't find no info about Hitman Reborn's mangaka though

Really, they weren't on the list last I checked but that was a couple hours ago, it may have changed.

Reborn's mangaka has been found. She posted a twitter a little while ago. Tite Kubo is fine as well.

Unless they live in one of the harder-hit areas by the tsunami, they are more than likely fine.

As for weekly publishing, I don't know- I doubt that they're going to do it this week, at least.

@Kaitentsuki- you should've seen the quake thread in the chatterbox that closed. Also, on funimation's facebook, there was much whining about how this week's simulcast was canceled. No kidding it was canceled- Japan just got hit with its worst earthquake ever, and these little kids are crying because their favorite animu isn't playing? Geez.

-.- im sad just sad that people think that theyre weekly dosage of anime/manga is worth/care more then the creator of those, its just sad when such a thing happened to another country and even saw some people ask if the manga will continue (such as naruto when still was no news about Kishimoto) instead of worrying about its creator shocks me actually how people are selfish and only want their dosage

I never heard him saying that he didn't care about the safety of the mangaka ?
I don't understand, is this a wrong thing to ask this question?
Don't tell me you never wondered if the earthquake wouldn't affect the manga ?!

On the Shueisha and Weekly Jump page appears this message:
本日(3/14)以降に刊行 予定でした週刊 少年ジャンプお よび集英社の全 雑誌は、全国的 に発売が不確定 の地区が多くご ざいます。大変 ご迷惑をおかけ しますが、ご了 承下さい。
translation:
"From today (March 14), there are many areas of Japan in which the distribution of Weekly Shounen Jump as well as new Shueisha manga is uncertain. Please accept our deepest regrets for the inconvenience"

"him"? whos him? i read tons of people just asking about the manga instead of people worrying about the mangaka, and my belief if the mangakas safety is worth more than his damm manga, of course i wonder how it would affect the manga but i silently wait as there is nothing i can do to change it nor the other people whining, we are talking about peoples lifes here, of course their jobs are amazing but i prefer knowing if someones alive instead of wondering about his work its just sickening,
and consider that these comments actually might be repulsive to them as people died, maybe even their relatives, and people just ask will this manga come out this week! may even affect how they work in the future. There are all kinds of action that people might take after reading such things, of course alot of people are genuinely concerned and ask about the person which get a big + and a hug from me smile

if you want to talk about the peoples lifes, then make an other post..
We are all sad about what happened in Japan and there are other post about that, but we still wanted to now about the weekly publishing, that's all.

If it were someone who didnt just make a account on mangaupdates to ask for weekly manga publishing then i would -.-
And waiting a week to see what happens isnt really a big deal, if it comes it comes just sayin patience is a virtue, and im talking about peoples life that makes those weekly publishing so its relevant

Aside from the shortage of food/water/fuel/etc, at this stage, given that there are rotational power outages throughout Japan, it would be difficult for mangaka who are still working in none affected areas to get things out on the tight schedule they usually do. I doubt printing companies can operate continously. I was reading one mangaka's blog, can't remember who, and she said 'I'm so glad the power cut to my area is during the day so I can keep drawing." So even basic things like light will affect it. I think everyone's trying their best to get back to normal asap, it's a country with a hardworking population. But we just all have to be patient.
