Can anybody suggest a good novel series with a super-strong protagonist? It's better if he/she is on the good side, and there are no extremes involved, like - if it's a he - the girl being capturedd by the enemy, or going voluntarily, and no 'extrem' physical acts, if you get my drift.
Thanks smile

I have Wheel of Time, might read it later. I'm on book 05 of Dresden Files - will start reading it in a few hours. Thing is, Harry always seems to lack power. I wanted a novel series where the guy's strength is awesome worthy.

Until Death Do Us Part

Well, I'm not sure what you mean by "extreme physcial acts", but the protagonist is strong.

By physical acts, I was referig to completely different type of acts.
And that one is on my wish list, just waiting for it to finish. Thanks, though smile ,

Sword of Truth series

It's a really awesome series where both main characters are strong. Richard is probably the strongest guy in the series. (One in a thousand year.) And Kahlan, the main heroine, well, she has everyone in Midland afraid of her power. It's a really good series, and it's easy to get addicted when you started reading it.

A lot of people do compare this series with the Wheel of Time. I like both, but I guess if I have to choose, I'll pick this over the other.

Oh FYI, there's a bit of extreme act in this. The way Kahlan kill this evil guy near the end of the first book, man, I have a hard time imagining it. (Lol, but he's a "lolicon" so it's totally worth it.)

Strange, I thought this board was for anime/manga/Light Novels/Visual novels.

....and I was going to go with Legend of the Legendary heroes LN...

Sanderson took over the wheel of time, doesn't feel quite the same, but he wrote the Mistborn trilogy and he wrote the warbreaker book... Didn't really like Elantris.

Stephen R Donaldson wrote Two series, The GAP was something of a space epic with bad ass Space Pirates using super physics weapondry.

He also wrote the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, which I haven't read the final set of books because I hadn't figured he was going to continue the series, but the dudes pretty strong in the second chronicles.

uh, The Watchmen Graphic Novel.

seriously go to your library and ask a Librarian.

Dude, if I had any idea where I could find a good library in this town, I would go and live there. eyes

Man, Sword of Truth books are long. For how many books does the main guy remain desperately weak?

Except "The Pillars of Creation", all SOT series are good but i wouldn't say the main guy is extremely strong it is more like he is strong bu he doesn't know how to access his power throughout whole series. Though it is a good read.

I LOVE THAT KILL. It's awesome. Actually, whenever Kahlan is in the con-dar it's awesome.
The mord-sith are also awesome and super powerful. <3 biggrin
Even the tv-show (which doesn't do much right...), did the con-dar/Mord-sith pretty well.

It can be for anything, really. I request books/tv-shows/movies all the time.

The books follow the old shounen power-up to beat strong enemy then the next enemy is stronger so power up again stand-by. (At least, the first four or so did. He is decidedly un-awesome in the fifth book when he gets
Spoiler (highlight to view)
captured by Nikki.
)
Still, there are some badass moments. Especially in the the second book.

Anyway... on topic...

The Name of the Wind By Patrick Rofuss? - IS EPIC. The main character is so awesome and badass it's just like... woah. Even when he was younger he was still awesomely over-powered and awesome.

The Painted Man By Patrick V Brett is another one with an epic main character. I think the one where the painted man is actually the main-main character is the second book, though. Or maybe it just switches to his POV sometimes? I can't remember. Still awesome, though.

Dune By Frank Herbert has a main character that is awesome and over-powered too, just not in the traditional sense.

Ender's Game/Ender's Shadow by Orson Scott Card also have strong protagonists. Again, not in the traditional epic fantasy bad-ass way, but in the Sci-fi way.

These have girl main characters, and are both teen fantasy, so they're over here -

Sabriel + Sequels By Garth Nix are awesome. They're an easier read than the Wheel of Time/The Sword of truth series, but still awesome. I don't recall a single instance the main characters were under-powered, although they aren't as over-powered as I normally like.

Poison Study by Mary Snyder is good too, though not as Epic or awesome as the series mentioned above.

I have a couple others with strong main characters, but they're all sorta feminist. How do you feel about feminist undertones? bigrazz

Umm, I don't think Richard was ever weak. Maybe in the beginning where he refuses the Sword of Truth and prefer to go back to his wood-guide life. I think the only part that's weak about Richard is that he's in love with Kahlan. There's only 12 books in the series, so it's not really that long.

I was refering to a single book. There's like 800 pages in the first one! And I don't mind. I like long books. Means they can last longer than a day, at the rate I read bigrazz

Eclipse Hunter - keep an eye out for it on the MU releases; the first chapters will be coming out soon. wink

Eragon, The Inheritance Cycle - though everyone I meet seems to have already read it.
