I'm considering buying a docking station for my ipod touch 4g and I'd like some advice on what would be the best docking station to get.

So recommend away

In my opinion docking stations are a waste of money and time. I've had three different iPods and an iPhone, and really, the best thing is to buy some nice speakers and get a long minijack to minijack cable.

I've had two docking stations, but because every mp3-player gets outdated it's simply much nicer to have good speakers that you can keep for years to come. Also, if you buy a new iPod in a few years, maybe they've changed the shape slightly, so that it doesn't fit into the docking station. This has happened to me two times.

Oriolidae is right.

Buy yourself a set of speakers (and a subwoofer if you like your bass) so you can plug it into your laptop/pc/DVD player/game console whatever and you can play music from iPods and Mp3 players. I've got the Logitech Z323 speakers.
They're not that expensive (if you shop around. I got mine for much cheaper than they're priced). Cheaper than a decent docking station for sure and the sound quality is amazing. You don't even need a separate cable, you can just plug it straight into your iPod Touch. I would know because I have an iPod Touch too.
