Quote from lithianic u cant just say they simple reuses the same characters. for me, the chobits part was somehow related by a few years(dunno how much) before the creation of persocoms. like, the chiroru manager is still with yumi. but the only thing changed was chitose was able to bear both children. in that case, the kobato story might as well developed both children died then chitose recreate them back, IMO.
In Chobits Chitose claims that her and her husband created Elda and Freya because Chitose was unable to have children.
on a side note the only series Chobits is directly related to is supposed be Angelic Layer and I don't think there are any recurring characters.
