I hope this is fine but i had to get my feelings out there. I HATE Orihime! She does so many things wrong, her personality sucks, she is always unsure of herself, gullible, shy, worrisome, oblivious, stupid (as in air headed), and she really isn't necessary, as Urahara said. Above all else her compassion for enemies to the point of healing them, is ridiculous. Ichigo has compassion but he leaves people alive to let them think about what they did, she just randomly heals enemies. Her character doesn't fit in a world where everyone else is fighting on the battlefield. And when Ulquiora (don't know about the spelling) was dieing the way she reached out to him... Really, the guy just killed Ichigo, he kidnapped you, He beat down Uryu, COME ON!

Rant done...For now

So what does everyone else think. This is not made to be only an Orihime hate thread, I want to understand why people like her and the reasons other people hate her.`

laugh Well, the first thing i wanted to say is that i respect your opinion. And i kind of agree with you. But she's not so useless on the battlefield [I mean she can heal serious injuries which is great] . What i hate about her is that she depends too much on Ichigo and the others. I mean come on girl, don't just cry Ichigo this, Ichigo that. Stand up for yourself, damn it! And i can't agree with you about this: that you don't like her because she's shy and gentle. Ichigo is the same [i mean gentle, not shy xD] i don't think he let them live just beacuse he wants them to learn about their mistakes, i mean seriously would he say " I did this to you Ulquiorra? Then cut my leg and arm to be equals". Don't think so. But anyway this is a discution about Orihime. She's ok. Not the best character, but not the worst. I personally like Rukia more. biggrin

I agree with both of your opinions. Thinking of the human perspective, it is understandable why she is so devastated when ally or enemy is injured and wants to heal them. But even so, that type of personality has no business on the battlefield. I hate the fact that she lacks self confidence, its so annoying when any heroine is like that. I really dont care about her honestly, but she needs a stronger personality. Which the should timeskip gave to her.

I hate the fact that she's a wimpy, pacifistic, crybaby. I'm not pro-war or all gung-ho about killing people, and I do have feelings and all, but I will fight back if someone hurts me or my pals-and I'm not gonna whine or wait for one of us to be halfway dead. I hate people who can only talk about love and peace, if they don't do anything then they are useless.

only thing good about her is her big tits, and that is the main reason she is the love interest of ichigo. hell if rukia grew some tits shed be a much better character as ichigos love interest.

Basically... all of this! Orihime is definitely a character that I hate with a burning passion! laugh I dislike pretty much everything about her. :3

She is not the love interest of Ichigo.

BTW, I voted "Like Her". I don't hate her but I don't love her. She's okay as a friend (she can be annoying in the battlefield, but as a friend, she's nice, loyal and easy to get along with) but anything else, no.

If you're gonna love her and interested in her becoming Ichigo's love interest, please say it's because of her personality instead of you just liking her because of her big tits. That's insulting to Orihime, if she was a real person.

She's a stereotypical damsel in distress, dressed up as being "all powerful" to pretend that she isn't. Just replace all her screams of "Kurosaki-kun!" with "IIINDIIIEEEE!!", and there's really no more reason to like her.

It sucks too, because she started out as such a quirky and interesting character. It's bad enough that she's devolved into yet another pathetic example of the "will never, ever, ever confess" type of girl, but now she spends half her time screaming out Ichigo's name, and the other half saying that she'll get stronger (but never does).

And what makes it even more hilarious is that if she ever did start dating Ichigo, it would fail so epically, because she's an extreme doormat who'll never complain about anything, and he's too much of an idiot to notice anything about her.

I have to say I'm pleased that most people share my sentiments.
Back when I still watched Bleach, whenever Inoue popped on the screen, I would scream like a madman for her to die. Same thing happens (though mentally) whenever she shows up in the manga.
Sachins, I hope you are right when you say she's not the love interest of Ichigo. If somehow Kubo Tite developed a sick sense of humor and pair them up, I can't promise myself not to lose control and finding a way to terrorize him.
Anyway, i grudgingly understand that Inoue has some positive attributes and not just a lump of uselessness. I mean her powers are actually pretty cool if only it's not her who has it. Yet still, she managed to grate on my nerves everytime she shows up. God, I hope she could just end up with Chad. ...nah, I would feel bad for Chad. I hope she will just retreat to the dark, unseen corner in the manga where we can forget about her peacefullu.

i dont think its fair that hate towards orihime is solely based on ''damsel in distress'' remarks. damsel in distress scenarios are necessary for good story telling at times. for example, the Soul Society arc was a damsel in distress plot about rukia.

but i do agree that its annoying that she wont confess to ichigo and always cries for him.

and by the way orihime IS ichigo's love interest whether you guys like it or not...well at least one of them

I like Orihime, but I hate the fact that Kubo doesn't let her fight. Yeah, her personality is that of a pacifist, but she's seen first hand loads of times how being non-aggressive against enemies doesn't work, so you'd think that she'd finally fight instead of going "No more sitting in the back!" while still sitting in the back for the rest of the fight. Hell, she's the most powerful character in Bleach, since she has a power that can reject reality. She could literally reject somebody's existence and have then vanish into nothing.

Orihime's okay...I don't love her but I slightly dislike whenever she shows up...she's really wimpy, and I too hope Ichigo doesn't choose her, if there ever turns out to be any more romance. For that, Rukia would be the best choice for him. roll Maybe I'm just biased, but oh well.
She's just so weak (minded) sometimes it makes me mad. (Notice the sometimes, sometimes she's okay).
What I really want to call her is a dumb, big-breasted girl, but that's not all she is.

Being a damsel in distress doesn't mean that you're a female character in need of rescuing. It means that you're a story prop that exists only to be saved (and usually that you're good enough eye-candy that an audience sees a point in it).

Rukia, at the very least, made things different by A) not wanting to be saved, B) facing her circumstances with dignity, and C) not being treated like some prize that gets to be won after a hard fight. The main point being that she was a solid character before she needed to be rescued, and returned to being a solid character immediately after.

Orihime, on the other hand, plays the role of every single Superhero girlfriend - she exists to get threatened by the bad guys. Except the hero is a completely blank slate when it comes to romance, so she's less important.

Meh.
There are definitely better female characters in Bleach. Orihime's far from my favorite. But I don't think I hate her with a burning passion. She's too passive, too emotional, too feminine. Other characters blend their feminine aspects with more masculine ones, making a nice balance.
