As far as I know, marrying a cousin is legal.. Wierd as it is... Personally I think it's far to close

It depends on where you live. I doubt that very few people would actually want to marry a sibling.

In most places, you can't marry a first cousin, but you can marry a second cousin. Think about it. With the first cousin, closest common ancestor is the grandparents. With the second, it's the great-grandparents - 1/8 for the two of them. That's not a lot.

I think incest between cousins is not uncommon worldwide. I mean i have met several people who are married to their cousins. It is also in many anime/manga. I think culture plays a vital role. I personally dont mind that in entertainment but it would be very hard to be attracted to a cousin in RL. Maybe if she was really hot and it was your first time ever seeing her? However I have never seen sibling/parent incest. I plan on not seeing any.

In some places it's legal to marry first cousins. Others have restrictions, like you can only do it when they're old or can't have any babies anymore.

Actually, if you want to get into science, even first cousins is far enough to avoid deformities unless you do it for a healthy set of generations; statistically, a first cousin is only going to share one eighth of the variable human gene assuming no prior incest. Even brother/sister can go for a few generations before disorders become obvious (this we know because monarchs in medieval Europe liked to keep the noble blood "in the family.").

At the same time, 1st cousin/1st cousin incest is, in many cultures (Western culture, usually; the U.S. is a prime example) analog to slimy things that are, in fact, benign: it's slimy, and it looks nasty, and sounds nasty (that squish!), but it doesn't actually do anything nasty.

I'm not sure about that. I've heard of quite a bit about people marrying their cousins and having babies with low IQ.
Even when it's okay, some will still frown upon you. It's tough love.

It may be coincidental too that the babies have low IQ. If two smart people marry each other, it's not guarantee that their babies will be smart either.

the first time I met said cousin we didn't even know we were related. It took us awhile for us to realize we were cousins. When we figured it out, it was awkward, to say the least. Its still awkward between us. We only ever got as far as flirting by the way. So its not like anything happened.

Strange to say, I was at a family wedding, and was seriously hit on by one of my cousins. I want to throw a question out there....Freud talked of how some tribes in the south east islands (inc. australian) had very strict rules on male and female interaction due to fears of incest. Some killed their pets (cats etc...) if they committed incest. Do you think that humans would commit it if there was no religon and morales introduced? Phew..... long question huh?

But personally my view is that some countries do allow 1st cousin marriages although many families don't like it. However 2nd cousins and 3rd etc... should be okay. Brothers Sisters, Uncles, Aunties not so nice....Thats like wanting to sleep with your mother and father in all cases...bro + uncle alot like father maybe, sis + aunt alot like mother....it makes sense if i explain in "freudian" aaaannnyway personally after meeting my 1st cousins for the 1st time i instantly felt they were family that they were my siblings and didn't see the guys in that way....maybe i just wasn't attracted although they are good looking, even though i was attracted to my 2/3rd cousins (maybe 4th), they have a weird connection....anyway i didn't feel a strong blood tie.

P.s.- there was a case recently i heard from some friends that a brother and sister were found in the south england that had been living together as partners for years and they have children. Their children however are messed up completely supposedly, deformed or unable to walk or communicate or something like that...i should try and find the news article....anyway, the gov wants to take the kids into custody because they see the parents unfit. The bro and sis i think their story was they were apart for years then met fell in love knew their relation and were still ok with it, and they said we had this strong bond from the 1st moment. Siblings usually do - it's natural. Like a mother finding her child after yrs of not seeing it. Anyway they thought it to be love and went with it.

Personally, if there weren't any religions or morales restricting humans from commiting incest, then without a doubt, incest would most likely take place. Either as an act of survival or boredom, I'm pretty sure people would consider it especially with people already doing it anyways despite what the rest of the world thinks. However, I think the main people refrain from doing so is due to the mutations their offspring bring about with them, which then brings me to wonder: "If there were no cons like mutations and such, would you be up for incest?"



I swear I've seen a movie like this, but it was one of those crude humor ones on comedy central. Seriously, I think its pretty sad that the government took away their children. I mean like, what're they gonna do with the children then? Orphan then off or separate then so they won't commit incest or something?

I have no problem if people sleep with their step-brother/sister, I even know a couple that met like that, parents got married, kids fell in love etc etc, it was strange at first (they live under the same roof etc) but everyone got used to it and it bothers noone anymore.

To 1st cousin marriage, in Arabia they prefer 1st cousin marriage(tail male)!

So in some cultures its a prefer way of marriage.

To incest manga, i read/watch it like other henai, but in RL!? never! i have some cousins and a sister same age but never... i have a good looking aunt in-law from albania but she also is a no go, i get sick if i only think about it...
