hey MU!
I'm sorry if i offend anyone but i'm sick of all the stereotypical behavior in manga, the pervy archtypes, ball-less male leads, common-sense-lacking zealously altruistic types, a broken sense of romance/courtship, and the endless battles against one exponentially strong bad guy to the next.

I'm looking for a manga that tells a great tale with believable characters and realistic overtones. essentially, i'm interested in manga that made you go "wow" over its refreshing originality or the depth and richness of the story, like imo in historie or spice and wolf. also, i kinda can't stand the 1990s art style o.0

strategic/resourceful characters and historical fiction are always a plus biggrin
p.s. shoujo art just scares the crap out of me dead

Vinland Saga - Badass story of revenge that really takes off into something a lot more than you would expect. The art is top notch as well.

Lone Wolf and Cub - The most enticing story about revenge I've ever read. It also has the greatest rivalry I've ever read about in a manga. Each chapter gives you a little more depth into the main character, Lone Wolf and his son, and what drives them towards their goal. The plot slowly builds up and really pulls you in. The art may take some time to get used to but after a few volumes, I consider it one of the best.

hahaha. 80's-90's style art is not for everyone. Too bad because that's when some of the best manga ever, came out. In any case, I've got another:

Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service It's got a very realistic drawing style. It's certainly not your stereotypical type of story. laugh

Friends, congratulations. You've successfully given me another reason to spurn reading books for manga. though, please, don't tell the college admissions that biggrin

the strategic minds thread's great and bokku looks all right and sounds even better.
