Here i like the feature reading lists, completed lists etc...
Suggestion is that how about sending an email when ever a manga chapter in the current reading list is released? You must have an option to disable it. Also, how about adding a slide show of first chapter of each non-hentai manga.

why would you need that? you can just see the release page to know if something from your list has come out >_>

and the slide show thing is like making MU a site for reading manga even though it's only first chapter

...an email, when you aready have a sign ( that small white page ) that you're reading certain manga? what for? would you really prefer to read emails and then go to the releases page? wouldn't that slow you down?

this is an info site, what you of course know, as you read the rules like you were supposed to do.

Ya I'd probably say that getting an e-mail for each chapter release is a bit excessive, and although I agree that it'd be nice to have a chapter to preview from each manga, I dont think manga updates is the place to do it, I mean its just not a site meant for reading manga bigrazz

As they said, we will not do anything like a slideshow or preview of the first chapter of any series.

Email is possible...but not likely. I'm not really sure how much more our server can handle if it has to send tons of automated emails also...

The email idea would have a few downsides, but building off of that, something (maybe in the releases page or the what's new page) that would show any releases from the manga in your Reading list that have been added since your last visit could be really useful for people with quite large reading lists that dont want to scan the whole thing for a handful of mangas, or don't want to see it on a daily basis on the Releases page.

Basically so i could hit a button and see all the new releases from my reading list in a neat little table without any waffle.

A newest release of your reading list button? I think that would be more useful than the emails, check only the releases of series you're reading, cool.

Getting emails might be a pretty good idea when you first think about it, but considering the reading habits of some, that will end up being a ton of emails when you don't really need it.
It takes less time to check the release page for the symbol than it is to log in to your email, open message, read message, click link? or visit baka-updates manga, and then do the download or whatever. eek

True there are advantages and disadvantages, but couldn't the user just have an option to recieve an email or not?

Email Idea is good, but a little hard to handle.

What if there's 4 or 5 releases of the same chapter ? there are several naruto scantrad teams' -> You will receive x-1 (x = number of email) emails that you wouldn't read.
What if there's old releases ? -> you'll received emails form the slow team releases'

Finally, you'll get a ton of unread emails, because you'll just read the email title and already know the content.

The most better method to track release nowadays is to use the RSS Feed.

Else, a page with only the newly release of you reading list is an good idea, and it's not hard to visit that page once everyday. (i've manga updates website open as long as my firefox is open = mostly 24h/24h).

When i first used this site for tracking i would have liked to have an email options, but frankly after using it longer, i've realised it wouldn't be practical to send out emails each time a group released a chapter for those your tracking, i can imagine getting hundreds over a week and besides letting me know when a chapter is out, i'd probably still have to go to the site to update it, making the whole process moot. Now i keep a tab open as well as baka-anime updates and spot any new additions.
