Issue 11 of Weekly Shonen Jump, which will go on sale February 9th, will come with a special chapter of Death Note, written by Tsugumi Ohba and drawn by Takeshi Obata. The one-shot will take place after the events from the original Death Note manga.

Still isn't gonna change the fact that that the last part of that manga (the whole Mello/Near arc) sucked in comparision to the L arc.

However, the end did leave many questions unanswered, so I will probably read this.

Omg, I agree with this. xD I hope there will be more clarification. Or maybe some other human who suddenly gets the Death Note, because Ryuk was bored again. xD

Might have something to do with the spinoff live action movie that's coming out soon. Although L did survive in the 2nd movie. So.... maybe it's not exactly related...
but still can't wait to read it!

About the second movie.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
He survived Light's death sentence but died of his own a few weeks later IIRC.

Impossible. They can't milk this series any more. A Death Note 2 would be epic fail.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
Note quite. L only survived longer than Light because he wrote his own name down in the Death Note. He died shortly after Light did, yes, but it was a few weeks later, it was more like a few hours later, or a day, at the max.

It was explained that when someone wrote the details, it happend exactly as written. Which means that Light could not change L's death time, because once written in the Death Note, it has to happen exactly as written. So when Light wrote it down, and it didn't happen, thats why. Not even Ryuk can interfere once it is written.

I know I did. Up until that point, the manga was highly entertaining and almost masterfull in design and presentation. Afterwards, it just drops horribly. I'm glad the movies don't even cover it, it was probably for the best. I actually liked the movies ending better.
