I really don't see a difference in one being ten and one being 13, it's all a question of biolog y meaning puberty and the mental state. I was more "ready" at the age of ten-eleven than some of my friends were at the age of 15. It's different from person to person. I can say that I was "mentally" ready for the sex-part when I was around twelve. But the emotional part, I think this is where things go wrong. Your body may be ready but the emotional pressure the whole sexual act puts on you can be catastrophic.

If by "mentally ready" you mean holding the thought of sex off until the right time comes then I applaud you. I still say no to that, it needs to be regulated. There are much more repercussions and things to worry before, during, and after sex than the emotions. Sex ain't that easy to handle. That's why there are AOMs, AOCs, etc.

Now let's not go further than this, we're going off topic. We're talking about manga and anime, not RL -.-

Yes I do have some shota and some loli, not my favourite genre but unless it's too much than I don't mind. And I do know that it's illegal in my country and I can understand why it is... It's just that I only recently found out. And so I was thinking of if people really know if it's illegal in their own country. There are surprisingly few countries that I know of that has made shota and loli illegal!

I'd love to know how far the couple has to have gone for it to be banned-like is dating okay, but no kissing? Kissing, but no sex?. Cardcaptor Sakura has shota and loli and it's on bookshelves in the states. I think Negima's considered shota and it's also allowed everywhere. Not to mention all the shota/loli characters running around many a harem comedy. I know of one case where the publisher dropped the manga when it went into sexual territory, but as far as I know it wasn't mandated-it's just that nobody wants to be the company publishing child porn.


Almost positive it's still legal in the states 'cause it's fiction. I remember there was a big First Amendment/Supreme Court case about distributing pictures of underage minors having sex, and the court ruled it can't be banned. Article's on web based images, but deals with published material

Yes, there are some debates about shota in the united states. "The United States PROTECT Act of 2003 prohibited obscene or sexual drawings of children, while the Supreme Court in Ashcroft v. Free Speech Coalition ruled that such legislation is unconstitutional." So I guess it's pending...
But I do know that it is illegal in Sweden, Australia, Norway, Canada and South Africa. That's all the information I've got.

I think the idea of banning pictures and videos with children involved in sex is actually right. But then again, for ME what I read is harmless. I don't like the hard shota, but then again it's all fictional so it doesn't bother me that much. But with the big problems of chid porn spreading over the internet I can understand why they forbidd shota and loli aswell. But stil, I have some pretty cute stories, nothing really hard shota but still...

There have been a few cases of manga getting licensed that TECHNICALLY falls at or just above the shota range, but some publishers will up the ages a bit. ((then again, I still consider Loveless Shota-eque, but hey.))

Hmm, I don't go out of my way to find either one, but I don't mind them. I'm a sucker for romance. Besides it is so hard to tell the ages of characters with some drawing styles. I used to be bothered by it, but then I met 4chan, and lurked there for a few years. Now nothing really makes me uneasy. I like cute consensual relationships best though.
