I don't really watch Asian dramas, but I have a feeling that they are a Korean territory when it comes to quality.

Well, on the moment my wish list on Mangaupdates is to long, maybe I watch some, after finishing it.

What's Korean Quality?
I've seen a lot of Japanese Dramas, and many are of the very highest-quality. The ones that tend to be low-quality are typically those based on manga/anime, or those that aim for a similar feel to anime.

I watched Jin drama, and it's perfect, thought never read the manga XD
Arakawa Under The Bridge was really good drama, and that one I can compare with the manga since I read the manga.

Yup, that's exactly it. There are lots of really good original Japanese dramas on their own, but of what I've seen, most of the ones based on manga or anime end up lame/cheap-feeling. To me at least.

Woo~another year full of manga :]
I used to, but watching drama is a bit too time-consuming when I already know what happens, haha.

HYD also has a bootleg chinese version... lol
I do watch them sometimes. Some are great; Nodame Cantabile(super amazing), It Started With A Kiss(so endearing), Meteor Garden S1. Some are good; HYD, Goong, and Gokusen s1. Some are okay like Mischievous Kiss. And some are terrible, Boys Over Flowers (too bad this is clearly the highest quality production of the adaptations.)
