This is by far one of the best manga i've read in quite awhile. My first question would have to be whether or not you think the publishers will screw us over once again, and bring a dazzling series to a dull and pathetic rushed ending? If not about how many volumes do you expect this type of story to continue(it could easily go for 15+ volumes while still being interesting due to the huge territory, and the amount of semi important characters, but i think it will finish about its 8th-9th volume)

also random question about the story itself. i admit the ice bridge was a cool, and scientifically possible plan.... i just wonder how exactly the horses and men crossed on the ice without slipping around. if they had spiked shoes or w/e i would have to think that hundreds of hourses/men/demons all fighting with spiked footwear on top of the glaciers would cause enough damage to start spitting them, would it not? (i apologize if this is stupid, idk much about the resilience of ice vs the combined vibrations and surface damage of charging troops.... also now that i think about it most people in general probably would be able to get an informed answer on this o.o... someone call bill nigh(sp?) bigrazz)

Random discussions? Great. Let's talk about the naming scheme for characters. I can imagine "Hero's" visit to his local church.

"Hi, I'm Perverted Priest. I'd like to into introduce you to our other pastor, NTR Priest, but he went to greet you at your house, so I remained here with Molested Choir-boy in case you decided to come to the church in person. Say hello, Molested Choir-boy."

Where's the H-manga for this?

hero and demon queen are titles not names... if that is in fact what you're talking about. The guy probably has his own name, but since being employed to hunt the demon king/queen he is referred to as "hero" instead.

this is a VERY usual title system used in like 40 manga, and usually its just that... a title.... idk how you havent gotten used to that yet xD

It...it's a joke. I don't really mean to discuss this.

But you're also wrong. Yeah, it's a title, but that's the point of the joke. They're named by their titles, or more specifically, they're named plainly what they are without an actual name.

Like Female Knight. Knight's a title; female's an adjective. To where she says "I am Female Knight from Lake Nation." but she says it as a proper noun, which insinuates it's a unique, recognizable name to her alone.

I mean, there aren't any MORE female knights in Lake Nation? "I AM female knight?"

Or for example, in chapter 5 Hero meets Fairy Queen, who introduces herself by saying "I am Fairy Queen." Not "I'm the Fairy Queen, <enter name here>."

Dead to rights example is in chapter six: "Go summon the Grand Princess!" And her caption reads " Grand Princess Fire Dragon". Or better yet, how about when they say the demon lord, but when they address her specifically, they say Demon Queen? (Though I'll concede that the latter may be translator indifference.)

In any case, they don't have mentioned names. This is actually a plus for me, since it's easier to remember this way instead of juggling a buncha names. And for the sake of being obnoxious, this whole post shall be a hotlink, except the spoiler box which has nothing to do with the series.

*cough* Though more to the point, I've seen a few manga do this too, but the scanlators or translation companies usually keep the name in romanized Japanese, and a translation note in back*cough*It's just weird to see it this way*cough*Not BAD, just odd*cough*

^agree

Read few chapters, hmm, quite interesting, past 5 chapters, realizing something is weird, continuing and found more silly things, the score went from 10 to 1.

1. There are no names in this manga, no i don't mean they hide their names, THERE IS NO NAME. Characters are being called by their job or status, which is idiotic, i can take it if the scale is limited like in a classroom or something like that. But not for this manga, the scale is HUGE, it's the entire world for god sake, no, make that 2 WORLDS. Despite that there's only 1 young merchant? 1 female knight? in the entire 2 worlds? ridiculous

2. There is no business management in this manga, the maou is cheating, thus the tag is wrong
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The maou just churns out inventions from modern times into the dark age which is the setting of this manga. i.e like bringing your car from the future into the middle ages

3. No background story of whatever or whoever, the Hero is invincible because he is the Hero, magic never explained but it's there when it's convenient

4. The entire manga is a Deux ex machina, that's why the plot is unpredictable, for me it's just dumb

it's a wonder why this thing spawned so many manga adaption. for me it's just dumb (it's important so it should be said twice)

I have got no idea why someone would post the exact same thing twice (as a review and as a reply to a thread) but I'll reply anyway

1. I actually like how they use someone job/position as name replacement in this manga. It brings out the significance of their respective role. Someone occupation is after all, a part of someone's identity. Of course, it doesn't mean there's only one hero or one female knight, its only how you addressed someone. Like how the younger maid called the head maid "Glasses sister" and hero as "Big Bro". The author never specifically told us that the character didn't have name, he/she just choose to introduce the character based on their respective role and since name isn't something that always used in a conversation it wasn't a big problem.

And as Badkarma already say: it is easier to remember that way.

2. The business management tag came from the economic explanation based on event inside the manga, not based on the thing Maou introduced to the villagers. And the thing that Maou brings isn't from modern times. Effective way to farming, compass, even in the real world, thing like this already exist long before modern times.

3. Because there is no need. Not every manga have to give flashback about a certain character past. Unlike some manga that decide to give every single damn character a sad-tragic-past, I think this series is more centered around the present, because that was what important. Adding some unnecessary story might actually ruin the story.
As for hero being invincible, it is true in term of strength, but how about other aspect? if we want to talk about flawless character, don't worry, he's not in the top ten most ridiculously invincible character yet.

4. Nope. Almost all problem is solved in quite a rational way. On overly optimistic one, but not irrational enough for Deux ex machina. At least they don't have a certain future cat robot's pouch....

But yeah, I have to agree that 5 manga adaptation is a bit too much.

And because it still random discussion threat......

I wonder, if the Big sis maid actually get her head cut off when she act as crimson scholar, would the illusion magic disappear?

This series is essentially world history wrapped up in a comedy/romance/fantasy package, with lots of good polish.

Saying that Maou is "cheating" is being completely blind to the overarching ideas in the story, as well the history that your life to today. The printing press was a massively disruptive technology that spread literature and literacy, and preserved knowledge in a form that was easily reproducible and not monopolized by a few organizations (namely the church). The invention of crop rotation, and the value of the potato, created an agricultural revolution that made food supply much more plentiful, and created situations where ordinary peasants had surplus goods.

This isn't about bringing a machine gun into the medieval ages and pretending that you're God. It's giving real life discoveries and innovations fantastical origins and simplified explanations, and making them an entertaining package that you want to read.
