This is why I can't take Fairy Tail too seriously. Look at this bit twists.. The leader of Sabertooth is supposedly dead (just like that). The Sabertooth dragonslayers were totally ripped apart by Natsu, not even going full out.

And even though it's been 7 whole years Fairy Tail is still stronger than any other guild out there. On top of that, Sabertooth was pictured as unbeatable and ridiculeasly strong. Godmode.

This twist of events and big character turns really make me sad because it comes of a bit childish.

Hmm. What's going on? More questions. A lot of spoilers...
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Why is Minerva all happy that Sting attack the guild master? I think she is up to something. How did Sting have the strength to defeat him? I was surprised that he managed to do that much damage. I thought maybe a bruise, not blood coming out. Also, will they be able to get the answer form the voice of the dragon by using milky way? I don't think it will be that easy. Also, this fate, there's no way to change it? The mystery girl in the cloak, I think she lost her right arm or something. She was writing with her left hand and having a hard time. She had to use her mouth to open the pen when normally people would use both. Also, she was shaking a lot when she was writing. I really think she lost her right arm or something, at first I thought she was left handed but if she was, she wouldn't have a hard time. I think she lost her right hand from the event perhaps? It really could be Lucy from the future. Ah! More questions!!!

Not really, the head master proven not to be all that much, by all indication is that Natsu was on the verge of beaten him when he goes on his rampage (but that Natsu didn't even demonstrate all the techniques like during the duel with the sabertooth dragon slayers).

Beside that attack was out of nowhere and unexpected, those sort of attack were the hardest to block.

I terms of the Guild master I think you will see that Sting got stronger because Lecter 'vanished'. It keeps with the themes of Fairy Tail. Natsu gets a huge power boosts to protect his friends and now you are seeing Sting doing the same. It suggests that we can see Sting and Rogue become good guys by the end of the arc.

I would not be surprised if the Guild Master was actually a puppet for Minerva or someone else in the group and is only strong by a false reputation.

I have a feeling Minerva and maybe other parts of Sabertooth are linked to Project Eclipse and Sabertooth might be a front for the project.

I agree, Minerva's reaction suggests something is going on behind the scenes. But it was still sad to see that happen to Lector, it kind of makes sense why Sting got so strong at that moment. From what it looks the Dragon Slayers are powered by emotion, ex Natsu's power surges in the past fueled by anger against Gajeel and Jelial. He was really furious for those fights, so I see why Sting caught the guild master.
My questions now is does Minerva know about the true purpose of the festival? And is she planning on trying to control Sting?

Yea. I really want to know. Minerva is in control in reality. I really want to know what she is up to. Yea, I get that of course he would get stronger because he lost his friend. I'm just saying I'm surprised that he managed to do that much damage. I am taking that maybe the master is a just a figure head?

He probably is, but you also have to take into account the Slayer type mages are usually from different stock than the rest of the worlds mages. What they control, their emtional states, and lack of regression make them kind of ideal. Almost along the lines of the Sayain concept Toriyama had for Dragonball.
