I want a manga in which the main character is guarded\protected all the time, but is unaware of it. Even better if he interacts with the bodyguard on daily basis (the bodyguard could be colleague at work, classmate, friend, girlfriend\boyfirend, wife\hisband etc.). The character can find out the truth eventually, but the state of unawareness has to last for a while. I prefer if the protector and protected characters are of opposite sex (one is a girl and the other is a guy, it doesn't matter which one is which).

Both male and female demographics are ok, but I don't want any shounen ai/shoujo ai, hentai and smut.

Action is a must and romance is most welcome.

P.S. I'm ashamed to admit, but this request was inspired by Shinobi no otsutome, though that manga was way too ecchi for my taste.

only thing that comes to my mind now is Kage Kara Mamoru!.

Full Metal Panic! is the only one that comes to mind. The male mc pretends to be a high school student but has an undercover mission to protect the schoolgirl Kaname Chidori.

I can think of the perfect manga with that description, Dengeki Daisy, though it leans more towards school life/romance than action.

Edit: Ha, well looks like I misread your post. The main protagonist does know she's being protected, but she doesn't know who the protector is. Not sure if that is close enough :/
