Quote from Paraph
haha. Why do I want to cry? because i want to feel moved. I love sad stories, but only if they're worth being sad for. I dislike depressing stories where the situation is so bleak and no hope is noted- it's unproductive, in my mind. There is a difference biggrin

That really is why you should read it in its entirety. Its beautiful, not depressing.
Depending on your reading speed it should only take you 2~6 hours to finish it. (1 and 1/2 hours for me, though I've read the thing more than 10 times laugh )

:\ bah. my motivation to get back into it is way low. It definitely had potential. I'll keep it in mind.

Ai-Ren is now on my wishlist. I'm not interested in looking into it at the moment. it seems to lack magical/other-worldly elements; it is more sci-fi.

I recommend the Deep Love Series, esp. the fist one
Deep Love - Ayu no Monogatari although it's not fantasy. A great manga with deepness and tragedy but also heartwarming.

Ah, okay. You want something that can Actually make you cry. That's going to be tough. There aren't that many really sad stories out there, and when they are, they're usually:
1. Not fantasy (because the fantasy genre is rarely portrayed that sadly)
2. Short (it's hard to keep up the drama without it becoming cheesy)
3. The sad part is usually not based on the romance (because non-cheesy romances are hard enough to come by, never mind tragic non-cheesy romances)

Well then (sorry, none of these are fantasy):
- Seconding the Deep Love series, it's among the saddest things I've read. It's short though.
- Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan: about a girl who plays the piano for someone on death row. Short-ish.
- Nana: it centers on the friendship and struggles of the two Nana, as well as their romantic relationships. This one is much longer.

You already have Solanin and 7 Seeds on your list, so I'll skip those.
