Blood Alone manga creator Masayuki Takano announced on his Twitter on Tuesday that the manga will end prematurely in Kodansha's Evening magazine in the spring.

Takano wrote:

My meeting just ended... Well then, I tweeted this at the time of the release of the tenth volume of Blood Alone, but I have a fairly sad announcement to make. I'm very sorry to have to make it.
The “serialization” of Blood Alone in Evening will end this spring. I apologize for my lack of power in this situation... ….However, since the story has only just entered the climax, I will continue to write the manga after its serialization has ended, and will finish it through selling dojinshi (self-published books) and digital books (the number of pages remaining in the manga will take up around four compiled volumes).

I would like to do my best release the remainder of Blood Alone in digital and physical forms with the ideas of “low price” and “simplicity to obtain.” I suppose I will sell the eleventh volume continuing the series as a dojinshi at the Comitia event in May.

The manga revolves around Misaki, a young girl who has been turned into a vampire, and Kuroe, a male author who writes about vampires. Through a fateful meeting, they now live together. Misaki has sweet feelings of love for Kuroe, despite their separation in age. Although their everyday life is usually uneventful and happy, other vampires and creatures lurking in the darkness might have a hand in causing rifts in their normalcy.

Blood Alone began originally as a dojinshi by Takano. It began serializing in ASCII Media Works' Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh in 2004, and moved to Evening in 2010. The manga has been adapted into drama CDs at least four times, with the cast including Mai Nakahara as Misaki and Toshiyuki Morikawa as Kuroe. The manga was licensed in North America by Infinity Studios, and Seven Seas began publishing the manga once again after obtaining the license in 2010. Seven Seas released the sixth compiled volume of the manga in 2012.

Too bad this masterpiece won't be serialised anymore. I was looking forward to buying the whole licensed version already. Well, I'm just glad Takano-sensei decided to finish it as a doujinshi. Does anyone know the reason for the magazine's decision?

Sad...this manga was one that required patience from both readers and publishers
Hope the story continues in other formats

Sad to hear.
It's great he actually intends to finish it and not let it get axed like so many series though.
I do hope to finish reading it, since it's an amazing manga.

To be honest, this could be great news because now he can end it the way he wants. I been reading a lot of japanese interviews lately and most of the publishers end editors force the artists to do the arcs and endings the way they want. ignoring what the artist wants. A good example is the recently finished "My little sister cant be this cute". the author said flat out that the publisher wouldnt let him to the ending he wanted and since he was under contract the writer had to write a more conservative and wholesome ending. Not that I care about the series, but Im am a big fan a free speech and freedom of expression.

Now he can take his time. If he wants them to be a couple, he can do it without the editor stopping him. I hope they do get together. I think it would be sad if she is unable to have a mate due to her eternal childs body. Look at the kodomo no jikan ending, that was a shocker to me.

But he will have financial problems now... It's very hard to publish your work on your own.

actually...some groups make more than a decent living on their doujin sales
it is not a steady job so of course...problems can turn up
but today there are so many huge doujin convents in tokyo alone
so if you are just a little famous you will probably be on the plus side

if memory serves me
blood alone started as doujinshis
so it is only fitting that the story will end that way

How did I miss this post before?? This is really sad. What could have been the motive behind this, though? It is pretty well read, is it not? maybe this is just my inexperience speaking, but I can't understand the reason. Nor could I find any on the net.
