First of all, to the admins, if this thread is in the wrong section please move accordingly. Thank you
Secondly, I want to bring up the question that's been on my mind for quite a while: how to decide which year it was that a manga was released. I know that sounds stupid, but just want to make sure once and for all. Because for certain cases, the actual tankoubon might be released YEARS after the separate chapters in a manga were released.
So for example, a one-volume manga had its chapters published separately in 2006, 2007 and 2008 in a magazine, and then was grouped by the publisher and printed as a whole volume in 2010. Which year shall it be then?

The year would be the year where the chapters first were released. In your case it would be 2006. MU takes the year where the manga was first published, and that can be in magazine or volume format...whatever was released first.
