Heya.

Well..I know I know, this website is not for anime. But I thought I'd ask anyways.
I haven't kept up to date for the past...well 6 months or so. And I haven't really heard about anything great these past two seasons. Not as much as last year's at least. At least last year there was Psycho Pass, or the highly highly overrated SAO, or Zetsuen no Tempest (one of my faves btw). But this season I didn't hear a word about any anime being anything special. Expect for Kil la Kill which I am NOT watching. Feel like I'm watching an episodic action hentai =.= Sorry if I'm offending anyone, but it's just not my cup of tea.
Anyways, what are some good new anime recently? After summer season to be precise.
I'm gonna watch the second season of Magi since I loved the first season. But that's about all I know.

Thanks in advance ^.^

Are you looking for a new anime series that is about to start or currently airing or are you just looking for something really good you haven't seen.
Any genre in particular that you would prefer?

If your looking for something that's currently ongoing you should try: Noragami, Tokyo Raven, Tokyo Ravens, D-Frag!(Truly ROFL hilarious), Golden time(A really good romance), Buddy complex(not the best show airing but its the first decent mecha anime in a long time), Nobunaga the Fool(I have really high hopes this series), Mahou sensou, Log horizon and Strike the Blood

Lol, Kill la Kill was actually what I was gonna recommend, since I've been enjoying it recently. (though I don't blame you at all if you feel that way)

Hmm the most recent anime I've enjoyed were Free! and Attack on Titan. I'd also recommend Monogatari series if you haven't watched it. None of those were post summer season though. (Alas, I don't watch a lot of current anime)

If you haven't watched Daily Lives of Highschool Boys from 2012, then go do that. I've never met anyone who's regretted watching it.

* Wizard Barristers seems decent. Too much Magic Girl for me so I only watched 2, but it looks good.

* Hajime No Ippo : Rising is cool if you like sports manga/anime. It includes the match with Sawamura which is the last good one for me.

* Gin no Saji Season 2 is funny and original. Reminds me of Moyashimon.

* Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta. A recent favorite, gladly surprised by it. Great animation and art. Very good action scenes, and the plot kept me interested. You just have to endure some of the slow paced 1st episodes for it to get good.

* Kyoukai no Kanata is ok too. I didn't like the male MC much though and the end was a bit disappointing, but not bad overall.

* Suisei no Gargantia if you like Mecha. I dropped it because I'm kind of sick of the genre but it looked good.

* Chihayafuru 2 Reminiscent of Hikaru no Go or Saki. If you liked the 1st season, no reason to miss this one.

* Genshiken Nidaime. Another sequel, not as good as the 1st season but still funny.

Log Horizon is good. Video game rpg like SAO but completely different story, tone, characters. Fun. Anime for Nisekoi just started up.

I recommend you Log Horizon and Strike the Blood, and if you wait a little more you'll get the second season of SAO, it's scheduled and I'm really looking forward to it, it should come out in either on Juni - July or Agust.

Log Horizon is more of a intellectual comedy tipe, like Maoyuu Maou Yuusha without all the ecchi. The situation is like SAO but not completely the same, it focuses on strategies like Maoyuu Maou Yuusha does with economy if you've seen it, if not I'm sorry to be talking about this, you can compare it with Spice and Wolf, if you haven't seen this too, don't worry, just forget all about it.

Strike the Blood is your harem romcom with ecchi and supernatural, it has about any super power you can think of, the MC is a vampire, there are mechas and ESPs. Can't think of anything to compare it to, sorry sad .

Whoa. Thank you all. Wasn't expecting this many answers within just this short amount of time. I got home and boom! It's all here. Gotta love the BU community *o*

Well this is my MAL list, if you guys wanna see what I've watched so far.
As for the genres, I'm more into the action genre, with male main characters. But I love love LOVE thriller series. Though there's not that many good ones out there. Love the suspense. I'm not that into romance but if it's only a subplot, that'd be ok.
If there's any anime that's not very recent but I don't have it on my list and you would recommend it, please do so. Love to watch more amazing series.

Will go through your lists thoughtfully later on. I just looked over them and some sound very promising.
Thanks again biggrin

After reading your MAL list, I have a few suggestions :

* You have Baccano on plan to watch... Drop everything else and watch it now (it's better than Durara). lol. Same for Ghost Hunt, Gungrave and Noir since you like thriller/action.

* Kurozuka Excellent anime. Non-stop action plus awesome reveal at the end. For mature audience though.

* Shigurui If you can stand very violent scenes, this a great one. Don't expect fun though, this is tragic, no heroes here.

* Seirei no Moribito Great anime. Superb animation and art, memorable and realistic characters. Some of the best action scenes in anime. Female MC but honestly she's great (probably my fav female anime protagonist).

* Sword of the Stranger If you liked Seirei, this one is kinda similar but more focused on action and less on fantasy/magic.

* Juuni Kokuki. Great fantasy anime, if you want adventure, exotic and magic this is for you. Another female MC, but don't let it worry you.

* Berserk. Not on your list ? Honestly ? A must, this is the best arc of the manga rendered in anime. There's a recent remake done, I haven't watched it yet, but the original is very good.

* Jyu Oh Sei An underrated gem. Survival in a sci-fi setting.

* Summer Wars Anime movie. One of my favorites, great plot, great characters, memorable action scenes in the virtual world.

* Bokurano Mecha anime for those who don't like mechas. It is much more about the characters and their interactions than the machines. Very good mystery/suspense and psychological tension too. Dark and depressing though.

* Speed Grapher Combine ability users like Darker than Black with crazy antagonists a la Baccano and some dark/weird organization a la Eyes Wide Shut and you have a great anime.

* Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Over The Top. If you like your action scenes epic then this is the one for you.

* One Outs If you like psychological duels then this is a must see. I've noticed you don't have any sports anime in your list, but this isn't a typical one, the protagonist is a gambler turned pitcher which makes the games much more interesting (and very funny too). Try the the 1st two episodes and you'll see what I mean. If you really can't stand baseball you can try Mahjong Legend Akagi which is similar and by the same mangaka but IMO not as good.

* Dennou Coil Very original. Psycho-pass took some inspiration from it for the virtual police bots I'm pretty sure, although the technology here is much more believable and it's mostly light hearted. Good mystery. The pace is a bit slow at times though.

* Blue Gender An underrated oldie. If you like sci-fi/horror, it's pretty good. The art is getting old but still decent.

* Hikaru No Go Probably the best "sports" or let's say competitive anime. I still don't understand much about go but the tension during the matches still affect me. Excellent character growth too.

And since you like thrillers :

* Himitsu: Top Secret - The Revelation

* Mouryou no Hako

* Skull Man

* Boogiepop Phantom

Of the anime that is currently airing:

Gin no Saji Season S2 (watch S1 first obviously)
Log Horizon
Tonari no Seki-kun (only 5 minutes each ep., but good)

Of the ones others have recommended, I can't say I'm a fan of:

Tokyo Ravens - had high hopes, turned out REALLY cliche
Strike the Blood - same as above except with fan service. it's pretty much lather-rinse-repeat from arc to arc.

...obviously it's all about personal preference, just giving you a heads up on what to expect.

Recommendations since Summer 2013:
Kingdom is good with a lot of action~ (if you can get past the wonky animation and haven't read the manga)
Silver Spoon/Gin no Saji is also great if you haven't read the manga~
I can't think of anything else...I'm having a similar problem finding enjoyable series recently.

Older stuff:
Second: Dennou Coil was like watching a Ghibli movie extended into a TV series. I loved the ideas it had in it <3
Also second Juuni Kokuki. It was a wonderful fantasy anime~

Highly recommend: Tiger & Bunny was pretty fun. What if super heroes and the whole shenanigans of catching criminals were part of reality TV? Lots of action and the "bromance" is strong in this one~jkjk bigrazz

Penguindrum so far has been an interesting ride. Kind of err...creepy at the beginning with that one girl, but the reasoning behind it was understandable.

Ano Hana was wonderful but kind of depressing.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica is pretty misleading. The term: "don't judge a book by its cover" fits pretty well with this anime. I would say watch til episode 3 before passing judgement on it. Entertaining watch with pretty animation.

Thanks again! biggrin
Now I have a while bunch of suggestions, dunno where to start...and anime is not like manga and it takes a while lot more since you can't choose the pace yourself. Guess I won't be bored for a long LONG time now. Lol XD
