That prank was seemed to be more punishment than pranking them back. I'm sure your principal is a cool guy, but that's messed up. Getting held back a year would seriously mess up a person's chances at not only decent jobs, but I'm sure for applications to a credible college as well. And the reasoning behind it wouldn't help. Maybe the guys deserved it, but getting held back a year is a little over the top IMO, since it could have long term ramifications (and for what appears to be multiple persons). I agree what you said about the actions and consequences though.

Yes, that was the point.

You don't see that as fair, yet some of the ideas in this thread are considered hilarious?

I mean, honestly, flipping a guys car onto its roof?

Thats not funny, thats idiotic vandalism. Not only does it damage the car severely (most vehicles have impact roofs that collapse on impact, and damage the integrity of the vehicle, overall). The long term effects of this are the insurance rates of the victim going up dramatically for the next five years, at least. This can easily cost thousands of dollers.

So, do I think its fair that he got back at them the way he did?

Yes, I honestly do. Truthfully, I would have done the same thing.

I saw him a few months back since I was visiting the town my High School was in. He says they have a new teacher that likes to staple fast food applications onto failing students papers when he hands them back.

Now thats funny. biggrin

I heard about a prank were they cut an old car in half then cut a hole in the center. They then during the night welded it back together around a tree. As far as I know the car is still there.

Why?

It's encouragement to strive to do better in school. It's like saying "Keep it up, and this is your future".

You think people who work in those places aren't worth anything?

Hmm, well, thats your opinion. Considering you said its like saying that, then that must be your opinion of them.

Technically speaking, a fast food job is a good first time job. It's when you work there in your late 20's and later that it becomes sad and pathetic.

Well, If he breaks their self-esteem so soon I doubt that they will search for a new job in their late 20´s, so as you said they will become sad and pathetic, and thats what that professor is saying

Truly, teenagers are sometimes fragile. And tend to take things with a tad too much drama(that sentence failed grammatically). Funny, but mean, and uncalled for.

Senior pranks...

Well, I kidna dropped out a couple weeks ago, but I WAS in senior year, and prank plans HAD been discussed.

The most amusing generally involved introducing foreign elements into the school. For example, luring a bunch of seagulls inside, or somehow getting a car into the lobby.

But, we probably would've done nothing, 'cause generally, doing senior pranks on your senior year is for tools.

Far better is to conduct them during your first three years of high school, but pin it on the seniors. That's how we did things. Grade 9 involved odd graffiti all over the place. Like, just dumb stuff. Not offensive. Just weird nonsense.

Grade 10 was all about the rotten food and stolen junk. Over the course of the year, we commandeered several unused lockers(some brave soldiers even sacrificed their own towards the end), and filled them with all manner of rotting food(fish, liver, fruit, etc.) and various items taken from the school, like books, and keyboards. On the inside of the locker doors, I decided we should write, "Grad '06!" That one went well.

Last year, in the weeks leading up to "prank day", we amassed a large number of obscure items. These ranged from a tea set, to a, um, large, sex toy. I didn't inquire into that one's origins. There was also a toaster. And all manner of less-weird stuff. Then, we took the liberty of placing these items about the school, at random. It was like easter.

It should be noted, that by last year, the administration had basically figured out that it was actually us who did it. But they couldn't prove it, so it's all good.

... I kinda miss school. Wow.

When putting it in those terms, it does seem somewhat justified. Given the same situation and more info on the persons involved, I also might have done the same things. But at first glance the concept of punishing a prank by getting held back a year is a little over the top. And that thing with the applications in all honesty truly is funny.

I have to side with Kaioh about this one, since people at fast food places do earn money, but it is a hard living and unless a person goes pass manager, minimum wage might be all they get. The people that are in charge of McDonald's, store managers, I think, get a new car when they get to that stage since when he was giving the tour he was mentioning it as an option beyond just having it as a short term job.

And really, I don't consider a person going to college maybe harder until about 25 years old, where I hear your brain stops developing.

Besides, the application form is in a sense, a warning, and I think there are even posters around school saying not to drop out (and flunking it pretty close since a fail is practically no credit...), and some students could go "I'm am not a failure and I'm going to pass that next exam and the whole course".

And Chibidoro-sama, I would think if you had kids when maybe the teacher sends the paper home to be signed and you're looking at it (whether the fast food application is on it or not), that maybe this isn't the first F you've seen from your kid's test, then you'd wonder if he's blowing off school to be with his friends. Well, this is my guess.

But I'm only siding with the teacher that isn't such as ass as to staple that kind of application form knowing that a student is struggling and yet still failing. It's a bit like that scene in Mr. Holand's Opeus where he has this girl that's struggle for 3 years trying to learn to use her instrument properly and he says, "Give it up," as in for her to quit practicing for the day, but her situation seems so hopeless it's understood as quit trying. That was accidental though, and it fixes the situation later too. shy biggrin

Hmmm, good statement, got me thinking, well if it wasnt the first F I really would doubt my kid, and the application would just be an alarm for me to do something, when I look at it that way it really seems like a reasonable thing to do
