I'm looking for something like Level E where the protagonist amuses themselves by deliberately toying with other people's lives with elaborate plots. I'm not talking about slapstick or in-the-moment type of thing such as tripping a running person; I want something planned out and hopefully grandiose.

Gintama has an entire arc dedicated to a huge troll, with this grand plot and everybody getting involved If you're interested check out the "Rehno" arc (manga 353-360; anime 232-236)

of course Gintama has other arcs/chapters dedicated to elaborate troll plots, but that one takes the cake.

haha yep there is nothing like Gintama

you should also try episodes 148-149 this one is my personal favorite, i love Sougo

i cant really think of any others that really fit though sun in Legend of the Sun Knight devises plots sort of like that they are not really anything like gintama or level E and he does them more for actual revenge then just wanting to play a joke. i would recommend the novel though, the manhua doesnt go very far

Good thing Gintama is episodic... Don't really want to read through 300+ chapters just to read a specific arc.

Are the plots funny? I don't really care about the motive if it's funny. As long as no one dies (it wouldn't be a prank if they did), it should be fine.

it goes back and forth, it has its really funny moments and then it has some very serious moments too.

however for the majority of the time the plot is centered around comedy, so the stuff he does, most of the time does has some comedic end to it, which is very good comedy by the way, i cant even count how many times i laughed while reading this novel, i just love Sun's Character, his ability to make me laugh has never disappointed me.

Not really. The suggestions are too general in that thread. I want something more specific, e.g. mastermind trolls, not street punk douchebags. I want a Prince or Izaya who plans out their trolling, not a Makiko (Seigi no Mikata) who does it because it's convenient at the time.
