Definitely plot win

We can adjusted with the art (if u think it's awful), but honestly I prefer good plot along with good art (and a lot of mangas fell to this area--so we don't need to worry!!)

i can read a manga for the art but i stick to ones for the plot most of the time

like in airgear its real pretty and all but the plot is all over the place D: i still read it tho

I've given up on a few series just because I can not stand the art.

I am attracted to the art at first.

But if the plot's really good, then I'll give it a try.

And then again, if the art is something I absolutely can't stand, then I probably won't read it.

Me too. I normally read manga based on the art, but if the story is really good, then I'll keep reading (Like the Glass Mask, for example).

Not sure. Some manga can attract me just for the art but their plots can be totally blah. Others have iffy-looking art but their stories are heart warming and great. When I'm looking for a manga, however, plot is what attracts mainly since I read the summary :3

I tend to avoid shojo, but if I see one with a really high score (8.6 or higher) I'll read it. I will drop it after 1 chapter if it does not catch my interest or the art is horrible...typical.

Being the shojo skeptic I am, I only stay with the manga if it has an outstanding plot or is funny.

Story is how I choose what to read, because I hate shojo art. Why would I read shojo for the art?

Plot always triumphs. I've dropped more series for bad, or lack of, plot than I have for poor art. A great plot can even make up for terrible art, in extreme scenarios.

Agree 100%, I’ve had the same experiences. The artwork is cosmetic, the plot holds elements that make you love the story as a whole. Art you can appreciate, plot you can love

For me, the art has to be above the story. I would put down a book with a GREAT story, just because it couldn't deliver the nice art I was after.

I'm a girl, so the boys would have to be some sort of eye candy... haha

I agree with the few above me. Plot over artwork. I read manga because the truly great ones have story lines as good as my favorite fantasy books; the art just helps visualize the greatness of the plot. Though I will admit that beautiful artwork is a plus.

You don't need much of an imagination to just flat out draw, anyone can do that with enough practice (though being a good artist is another matter). Having a unique plot, however, requires much more.

Plot without doubt. I'd take substance over frills any day. Some of the stories with the most amazing, inspiring, thought-provoking or suspenseful plots and characters have had less-than beautiful art. Art is nice, and I enjoy the eye candy, but if there's no substance, it doesn't matter at all.

I'm more biased towards art, unfortunately. But if a manga has a really good storyline, even with not-so-good-art, I would continue reading it.

SORRY ; looks like I'm only into ninjas, shinigamis, wizards and alchemists.

For me the decision is based on extremes, even if it is a beautifully drawn manga if I just can't get into it I drop it, however there are some manga that I just can't read due to their art being too hard on the eyes and as such I can't tell if the plot is good or not. But as my favorite manga are ones that have the best plots even if the art is sub-par, I think that for me plot is more important. Thank you for reading and a quick question, is the plural of manga manga or mangas?
