Do Japanese bathrooms have no locks?

In many manga and anime,I have seen persons entering when someone is already in the bath.Do japanese bathrooms have no locks?

I'm living in Japan right now, but not in a traditional house: just an apartment. However, none of the doors have locks (except for the front door). This probably has a lot do do with the fact that many of them are sliding doors. Not sure about real houses, though. I'd guess that they might not, though someone with more experience might be able to tell you more.

I don't know much about the subject but they do make locks for sliding doors. They function differently than normal locks but they still work.

Edit: oh and also before the western cultures came to japan seeing someone naked was no big deal. It was so not a big deal to the point that multiple family members would bath together in the complete nude. (ever heard the saying "let me help you wash your back"?)
So some people adapted to western cultures and put locks on their bathrooms and others don't really feel that big of a need for a lock.
(On another note about the above: in japan before western cultures became the normal boobs weren't really something they would get horny about, they were seen as what they are which is parts of the body meant to produce milk for children.
