Hi, how are you all?

How many of you happen to know Chinese? And is Chinese your first language or did you learn it? And are you currently working as a translator or wanting to work with group as a translator?

I am asking it because I am interested in learning Chinese and having an idea how many of you have Chinese as second language and was it easy or not. And then is the Chinese used in mangas that you translate or wish to are easy or not shy

First language though I still take it as a class because I've forgotten how to write many characters since I immigrated to the U.S. when I was quite young. I know many people who are taking Chinese as a second language - like all languages, it's challenging, but when you dedicate yourself to learning it, you will not find it overly hard.

I read a lot of Chinese raws, and it's not so easy for me because I was never taught Traditional Chinese, which is the writing norm in Taiwan, where most of the online Chinese translations for Japanese manga come from. I rely on context clues, what I already know, but with names I often don't know since Simplified Chinese is how students in mainland China learn since Deng Xiao Ping's reformations.

So, to put it simply, I can translate most of the text in Chinese raws, save for the names, but it would take a longer time commitment than I can afford right now.
