Hi everyone! I really enjoyed [a]Kozueko Morimoto[/a]'s manga Gokusen - read all of it in a week I think - and I was wondering if anyone knows of any manga that is similar in story, tone, or characters? To be more specific, I really enjoy manga that is about yakuza or ex-yakuza (or mafia whatevs) that is sort of light and comedic with a bit of romance as a subplot or whatever. Sorry if my request is sort of strange or vague, but people in this forum are usually awesome about recommendations

I can only think of GTO that features a yakuza-like character in a comedic role who tries to reform a group of kids, with a romance subplot. Gokusen is a one of a kind manga.

Possibly Tokyo Crazy Paradise - it gets more serious in the second half/last third, but the beginning is light and funny. The romance is more prominent than in Gokusen but there are many other things happening in the plot as well.

if you dont mind harem, maybe Nisekoi?

Perhaps Chocolat (KUBONOUCHI Eisaku)? Though it gets a bit darker than Gokusen does, toward the end.
