Wow, it's been awhile.

Character Filter:
Male Lead Variants
1. Is mostly a decent, kind guy, but for whatever reason has a jealousy streak and/or loses their flipping mind when something threatens the relationship or that person. Example: New Sexy Simpleton. It's not an extreme case...with him anyway.

2. Is REALLY violent and/or cold, initially, but is revealed to be a complete softy later on. Example:

Female Lead Variants

1. Normal but has actual survival instinct and common sense.

2. Somewhat of an idiot, but has enough intuition, will, or heart to make things for the better.

Or really any "okay" female lead will do. Strong or Strong Willed is okay.

IMPORTANT: I like thrilling things where people get punched, hit, or near death experiences, but I'm not looking for something with psychotic killers or rapists.

I've been through this a lot and I've read other threads and searched myself. Some stuff doesn't pique my interest, but it might with a rec. If it's a "big name" work I've probably already read or at least skimmed it. Nothing from Hwang Mi Ri, please.

You should read Kubera, the character Yuta totally fits your descriptions, but he is not the main character (but very much involved in the plot)

Well, the person did say 'no psychotic killers'. Though, I guess Yuta only is only a psychotic killer if you happen to be prey. He'd kind and sweet the rest of the time. Mostly. xD

Male yanderes are extremely rare, so I'll recommend something else that's similarly intense:
Qualia the Purple

It seems like typical yuri at first, but within a few chapters the plot becomes absolutely Insane, and if you're looking for something intense, this certainly is it. Just read the reviews, it's hard for me to explain.

For #1 -

Aishite Kudasai, Sensei - this guy may be a little too yandere for your taste, but it's a very short story.

Watashi no... Megane-kun - the girl in this one is a few peas short of a pod as well...

only one i can think of is Cheese in the Trap, you might have already read it since its not really unpopular but if you have not i would highly recommend it. you dont see the guys crazy side for awhile though, but he is definitely a just a little crazy.
