Hello. Lately I've been reading a few really good chinese novels.
Feng Yu Jiu Tian (Novel)
Juxing (Novel)
Tishen (Novel)

Granted, all three are BL but I'm not looking for chinese BL specifically. What I like about these stories:
-they all have an interesting plot
- main characters are not pussies (by that I mean they have interesting, cunning personalities, they don't let people stomp on them, they know what they want and they know how to get it)
-sure they're yaoi but the romance is not the centre of the plot, or rather, it actually is (except perhaps in Juxing's case) but it's not explicit and there are other things happening (there's actually a plot, it's not just fujoshi fanservice)

Basically, I'd love it if you could recommend me more novels like these, both BL and non-BL. They don't have to be chinese either, I just specified because in my experience, japanese yaoi is much more explicit. No restrictions on genre, either. As long as it's good, I'll take it.

It'd also be nice if you mentioned why you're making that particular recommendation.

Thank you

Edit: Didn't remember this before but here's my currently reading list

I sometimes forget to put the stuff I read in there bu this is a good place to start.

I can only remember ever reading three...

But I recommend all of them:
- 1/2 Prince (shoujo) - it's hilarious and a really fun read. The plot is pretty interesting (if you like RLMMORPG manga), though it does get a little repetitive towards the end. TBH though, the plot is second to the comedy.
- No. 6 (josei) - it has a beautiful and touching storyline. Shion seems weak and naive at first, but he grows and reveals more sides to him
- Sekaiichi Hatsukoi - Yokozawa Takafumi no Baai (yaoi) - because it's yaoi smile wink grin
But Kirishima and Yokozawa are perfect together, and the story is heart-warming, especially with Kirishima's daughter Hiyori with them.

The last two are Japanese but there's nothing (too) explicit.
Only the last one is BL, but the other two are awesome as well biggrin

thanks for the recs, but I'm already reading the first two and I've dropped the manga sekaiichi hatsukoi (ritsu's story) so I don't think I'd enjoy the third smile

I really like Yu Wo's novels, actually. I've read/I'm reading most of them. Let me just edit the first post.

Edit: can you also tell me where your profile pic's from?

Try Coiling Dragon and Stellar Transformation. They are from the same author.
I was also sick of all these japanese protagonists who are to much of a pussy, so I was glad when I find these novels. The characters feel much more realistic and the author created a very interesting world in both novels. They both have romance, although Stellar Transformation's is very slow.

Also, try Douluo Dalu. It's not as good but it's pretty good.

I didn't check your list, so I'm sorry if you've already read them.

I really liked A Cruel Romance by Ni Luo! There's quite a bit of politicking but it's enjoyable. Lan lin's series are good too.. I'm finishing up Force Majeure right now and i thought Love Late was really heartwarming...

There are a lot of good audio drama on tudou too, if you're open to those.

@Dahlia1112: just the fact that you came over and recommended something already makes me happy smile It's better than not recommending anything at all.

@eggbae: I checked out the MU page for that author and her novels and they seem like my type of story, especially Love Late. I got the impression it was about a painful unrequited love. In what order should I read those novels?

I suppose you could read them all out of order (they're lengthy enough to be read by themselves.. lol ) but the way I read them was Long Way Home, Way of Difference, Force Majeure, then Love Late.

Yessss lots of that frustrating unrequited love. But it's done very well.
