Please someone, help me with the title of this old anime!
So, from what I remember, the anime had the late 80s, 90s, or early 2000s. The story is about a middle school (or high school) boy that playing a game one day but suddenly he got pulled to the game world. He then helping the princess and battle the bad guys using mecha. There's also another girl companion. The anime had 2nd season, where the 2nd season protagonist is the son of the 1st season protagonist.
From what I remembered, the princess had pink hair and the friend had green hair (not too sure about this though). The protagonist had somehow black or brown hair with his hair tied (but I forget the one with tied hair is the first or the 2nd season protagonist.) Please help me :'(

The plot you describe is familiar specially the sequel with the son, but honestly I can't remember the title. But maybe I'm confusing it with MAR (which doesn't have any mecha)...

Click on Advanced Search. In Columns, select Start Date and in Genres check Mecha. Once done, click search and to sort click on the Start Date column... Voila.

Even i have to admit defeat and i am a Newtype of the old breed. I wonder what it is? Can you give more setting (video game/season2?) or format information. How much of a fantasy was it?

Edit: It is NG Knight Ramune & 40!!! I am the king of librarian as i did not know of the anime but ctrl+f and them "game" on the myanimelist solved it within 5 minutes.

Yes, it's NG Knight Lamune & 40 and the sequel is VS Knight Ramune & 40 Fire! I spent two hours looking for this anime title yesterday, give up and finally got an answer here. Thank you everyone!!!
I watch this on television 10 years ago and felt nostalgic suddenly when I watch another old mecha anime, Irresponsible Captain Taylor.
