Hi,

I'm looking for a scanlation group who might be willing to train me?

A few things about myself:
I'm fluent in English, knows a few photoshop stuff ( I guess not enough ).
I have started to learn reading and writing Nihongo, but I would like to have more exposure with it, by doing something that I'm interested in, and that's manga and anime.
I would say that maybe I can't be of any significant use as of the moment besides proofreading but I am very willing to learn.

What I can offer:
I can work part time only, since I have a day job, starting mid-September.
I live in Europe, so maybe timezone will be a challenge, or maybe not.
I can try and check grammars in English (not good enough to be the sole proofreader), be able to do cleaning (if you show me how to do it) and other stuff, and my ultimate goal is to be able to translate altogether.

My reasons:
As mentioned, I would like to have more exposure, learn to scanlate by doing it if some groups will be willing to train me. I also love manga, and I think that scanlating them is a very good way in bringing the good mangas out there to people who doesn't know the Japanese language.

Mangas that I like and have read so far:
Not too many, I'd say the more popular ones like One Piece, HunterXHunter, Naruto, Assassination Classroom, Ao no Exorcist, Detective Conan, fairy tail and others, and shoujou mangas like kimi no todoke, watashi ni shinasai, etc... I like light and funny manga though I dont hate the drama genre.

My profession is very far from this, so I understand that it's a long shot...

I don't want to sound rude, but, while you certainly seem to know English very well for a person who doesn't speak it as first language, you're nowhere near the level needed for a proofreader, since you made some basic mistakes in this post as well. And I don't know English perfectly myself. I think you could ask to be trained as a cleaner, while improving your translation skills, and then become a translator as you wish to be.

^Hi! Thanks for your comment. I don't think you're rude in any way. At least I know that I'm not even good enough to be a proof reader. I didn't actually say that I am qualified (i'm not that arrogant), just mentioned that maybe at this point that's the only part that I think i may be of use.

Anyway, as I mentioned, I might not be in the level of being good enough to be of any use to any group, but I am willing to do it if they are willing to train/show me how to do it. Someone has to start somewhere before being able to do something and be good at it.

It's not that you're not even good enough to be a proofreader, it's that proofreading isn't a simple job at all, especially for non-native speakers. It requires deep knowledge of grammar and sentence construction, and sometimes even other kinds of knowledge, like for example English sayings and habits that fit better to translate a particular concept. While it could be seen as an easy role by an English person, it's probably the hardest one for someone else. So I wasn't putting you down at all, as I said your level of English is really good.

Anyway, I'm sure that many groups will be more than willing to recruit you
