despite being one of the longest-running manga (1992-present), having been Japan's most popular manga at one time (figuring out the solutions to Kindaichi mysteries became something of a national craze for the Japanese), having spanned several adaptations (anime, live action series, novels, movies)
Why is no one scanlating this series?
I mean, I have all the RAW scans and I myself have been looking for a team or a translator who would agree to work on the series, but it seems like no one is interested D: !!
why is that?

First of all, when dealing with a specific series, you need to make the thread there.
But I see Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo has a bunch of spin-offs...
If that's the one you're talking about, I'll move it to the appropriate forum.
As for why nobody's scanlating it...
Not everything that's popular in Japan, will be popular overseas.
Besides, I see that TokyoPop has released 17 volumes. Scanlation groups tend to stay away from licensed titles, even if the company is now defunct.
Another reason could be the various adaptations.
Sometimes fans don't feel the need to read the manga, as strange as it may sound.

It's unpopular for the same reason all old manga is unpopular.
Now, why that is, I don't know. Although when I try to read it, somehow it does feel inferior to newer titles. But I can't quite put my finger on the reason.

As far as I can tell I don't really see it as anyway inferior to newer titles. Only thing is it is one of those titles that click really well as an anime than a manga. The same goes for all detective type manga. Unlike a lot of newer titles older ones are more well thought out giving a better and more enjoyable story especially when it comes to anime.

Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo is award winning and one of the most successful / longest running international comic books of all time with more than 70 volumes in print and countless adaptations to this very day. The manga even had a crossover with Detective Conan recently which cements this very fact.
The discussion is thus pointless and the number of volumes in scanlation or official translation doesn´t mean that much and won´t put bread on the table of the creators.
The prophet needs to count in the land of his/her´s origin and Kindaichi does without a doubt (even if i couldn´t care less about it).
(Can the discussion now be moved to the proper thread?)
Edit: And the scanlation just came back... What a topic.

really? I think it's a lot better in manga form, actually the anime adaptation omitted a lot of stuff from the manga
the manga is also quite darker than the anime, I think the anime is way too distilled
