I've been thinking about jumping into the digital manga arena and would like to get some advice before I do so.

First, is it worth it? I know that Yen Press has a pretty large collection of digital manga for sale, but the (admittedly few) other sites I've looked at haven't had much, and often what they do have are older titles. I'm primarily interested in Shonen and Seinen, if that helps any, although I do also read the occasional Shoujo and Josei. So I'm wondering if at this point there's enough content to justify getting into it now or if I should just wait.

The reason I'm thinking about this now is that I'm in the market for a new tablet to replace my aging 2013 Nexus 7, and I want to go with something a little bigger in order to get into reading manga. I already have a 2015 Kindle Paperwhite for standard novels, but from my research it's not that great for use on manga (although I love it for actual novels). While I'm more familiar with Google's Android operating system, I'm fine with going with one of Apple's iPad Air tablets if that offers any significant advantage when it comes to downloading and reading manga. I do know that Yen Press, for example, has an iPad app, but I don't think they have one for Android yet, so it's my understanding that you would just have to download it directly from the Play Store, or so something like get it from Amazon and use their Kindle app.

However, I'm also interested in loading my own zip/rar files and being able to use some sort of manga reader to read those as well. I'm assuming each platform has something that will do this, but I'm not sure what's out there, or what to look for.

Interested in hearing what you guys have to say, so please feel free to chime in with your experiences. smile
