Under the "Related Series", it says there's a sequel called Cuo Jia Liangyuan Zhi Xi Yuan Lu. Is it necessary to read it before reading this one?

In the both of the descriptions, pronouns are used instead of names, so I can't really tell who's who. Do both novels feature the same main character? Does this story continue from the first, after the main character has already been brought to the another world and has settled?

Nope. Each book can be read independently, they just sometimes make references events in the previous books, but it's nothing that will leave you confused.

The main leads of each book are different too.
